The purpose of the Canadian delegation's visit was to visit and work with the provincial People's Committee leaders on the project "Raising awareness of plastic pollution to promote the behavior of limiting, reusing and recycling plastic waste among young people to be implemented in Tra Vinh province". The project is supported by the Canadian Fund for Local Initiatives with a budget of 33,712 Canadian dollars and is managed by the Embassy of Canada in Vietnam.
Provincial leaders and provincial departments and branches received and worked with the Canadian Embassy.
At the meeting, representatives of departments, branches and Tra Vinh University proposed to cooperate with Canada in the coming time, especially in organizing specialized training courses in the field of environment and climate change adaptation to help provincial officials participate in learning about management as well as project implementation; expanding the community college model, implementing the opening of a multidisciplinary Canadian faculty at Tra Vinh University to enhance understanding between Canada and Tra Vinh.

Ms. Leigh McCumber thanked the leaders of the Provincial People's Committee for creating favorable conditions for Canada to effectively implement the projects. Thereby, Ms. Leigh McCumber acknowledged the suggestions of the provincial leaders; representatives of provincial departments and branches and hoped that the provincial leaders would create favorable conditions for Canada to learn about the province's priorities as well as cooperation opportunities between Tra Vinh province and Canada. Believing that with the successful cooperation and in line with Canada's priorities being implemented, there will be a direction to expand in the future. At the same time, Ms. Leigh McCumber suggested that the provincial leaders pay attention to indigenous peoples, especially women and girls, and include them in the project.
The proposals of the departments, branches and Tra Vinh University were acknowledged by the representative of the Canadian Embassy in Vietnam.

Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Quynh Thien hopes that the cooperative relationship between Tra Vinh and Canada will become increasingly deeper in the coming time. At the same time, Tra Vinh will create all favorable conditions for provincial departments, branches and Tra Vinh University to cooperate with Canada in legal and diplomatic matters and is ready to respond to the issue of cooperation between Tra Vinh and Canada.
In March 2025, Canada will support international cooperation funds, including Tra Vinh, so we hope that Canada will continue to support Tra Vinh in related areas of education, environment and climate change adaptation...
