BHG - On the afternoon of February 18, at the headquarters of the Provincial People's Committee, Comrade Hoang Gia Long, Member of the Provincial Party Committee, Permanent Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, had a courtesy reception with Mr. Oliver Brochet, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the French Republic to Vietnam and the delegation of the French Embassy in Vietnam. Attending the reception were representatives of the International Care Organization in Vietnam; leaders of the Departments of Foreign Affairs, Agriculture and Rural Development, Planning and Investment; Culture, Sports and Tourism.

At the reception, Permanent Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Hoang Gia Long, on behalf of the provincial leaders, welcomed the Ambassador and the delegation to Ha Giang; at the same time, thanked the French Embassy for connecting with non-governmental organizations to support Ha Giang, especially in overcoming the damage caused by Typhoon Yagi in 2024, thereby contributing to helping the province effectively support people to overcome the consequences of natural disasters in the past time.

Permanent Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Hoang Gia Long gave an overview of the Ambassador and the French Embassy delegation about the natural conditions of Ha Giang, the socio-economic development of the province in recent times and the development orientation in the coming years. At the same time, he shared the potentials and advantages of Ha Giang in various fields. He hoped that the Ambassador and the French Embassy in Vietnam would continue to connect and support the province in projects in the fields of climate change response, cultural preservation, and livelihood creation for ethnic minorities in Ha Giang; at the same time, help promote, introduce and promote the development of Ha Giang's strengths such as tourism, typical agriculture, etc.

At the reception, Ambassador Oliver Brochet thanked the province for its warm and respectful welcome and sent greetings to the provincial leaders. The Ambassador informed that this was his first working trip to Ha Giang and was very emotional when visiting the Vi Xuyen National Martyrs' Cemetery, the resting place of thousands of Vietnamese people who died in the struggle to protect the Fatherland. The Ambassador also shared the losses and casualties caused by Typhoon Yagi in Ha Giang province. At the same time, he informed about the French Embassy's support programs for Vietnam in general and Ha Giang in particular in overcoming the consequences of Typhoon Yagi.

The Ambassador also hopes that during this working trip, he will be able to visit households and communities supported by the French Government through the Care organization to listen to people's thoughts and wishes, to promote more effective and practical activities in line with the practical conditions and expectations of the people; at the same time, contributing to further strengthening the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between Vietnam and France.
The Ambassador shared the projects that France has been focusing on coordinating through international organizations to support Vietnamese provinces and cities in recent times to promote sustainable development of localities and improve people's lives... At the same time, he hoped to continue to have more in-depth working sessions with the province to discuss and promote the implementation of cooperation projects in the coming time.
