On January 19, in the capital Kampala, Uganda, within the framework of attending the 19th Summit of the Non-Aligned Movement, Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan met with Speaker of the Ugandan Parliament Anita Annet Among.
At the meeting, Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan thanked the warm and respectful reception that National Assembly Speaker Anita Annet Among and Ugandan parliamentarians had given to the Vietnamese delegation; highly appreciated and congratulated the socio-economic achievements that the Ugandan National Assembly and Government had achieved in implementing the National Development Plans, towards realizing the goals of the "Uganda Vision 2040" in building a modern and prosperous country.
On this occasion, the Vice President thanked the Ugandan Parliament for sending a delegation to attend the 9th Global Conference of Young Parliamentarians in Vietnam in September 2023, thereby contributing to the overall success of the Conference, expressing his belief that Uganda will successfully fulfill its role as Chair of the Non-Aligned Movement for the 2023-2026 term.
The Vice President conveyed the regards and invitation of Vietnamese National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue to Ugandan National Assembly Chairwoman Aita Annet Among to soon pay an official visit to Vietnam. National Assembly Chairwoman Anita Annet Among thanked and happily accepted the invitation.
National Assembly Chairwoman Anita Annet Among welcomed and highly appreciated Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan and the Vietnamese delegation attending the 19th Summit of the Non-Aligned Movement; affirmed that Uganda considers Vietnam an important trade partner, expressing her belief that the meeting will contribute to promoting the friendship and cooperation between the two countries.

In a warm and friendly atmosphere, the two leaders emphasized the great potential for cooperation between Vietnam and Uganda, especially in the fields of politics - diplomacy, parliamentary cooperation, economy, agriculture, science and technology, etc.
On that basis, the two sides agreed to increase delegation exchanges, contacts, and legislative experience exchanges between the National Assemblies and their National Assembly Committees, promote coordination, share positions, and support each other at international and inter-parliamentary forums such as the Non-Aligned Movement and the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU), and study the possibility of signing a cooperation agreement between the two National Assemblies.

Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan suggested that the National Assemblies of the two countries supervise and urge the Governments of the two countries to actively implement the signed commitments and agreements, as well as support and facilitate the implementation of cooperation between the two countries in potential areas such as trade, investment, agriculture, telecommunications, education and training, information technology; promote the completion of the legal framework through accelerating negotiations and signing of important cooperation documents in the fields of investment, avoiding double taxation.
