According to AFP news agency, speaking in Ankara, after meeting with his Turkish counterpart Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, President Zelensky criticized the Russian-US negotiations on resolving the conflict in Ukraine without the participation of representatives from Kiev.
“Ukraine and Europe in a broad sense – including the European Union (EU), Türkiye and the UK – should participate in dialogue regarding the fate of our region,” the leader said.
According to him, Ukraine will not accept the results of negotiations on how to end the conflict with Russia conducted "behind Kiev's back".
Claiming that Washington and Moscow are discussing the "ultimatum" that Russian President Vladimir Putin set when he began a special military operation in Ukraine, Mr. Zelensky affirmed that Kiev will not accept this.
In addition, President Zelensky declared that Ukraine will seek to regain the territories currently controlled by Russia in the East and South through diplomatic measures "without any compromise".
Meanwhile, Reuters news agency quoted diplomatic sources as saying that France plans to convene a second meeting to discuss Ukraine and European security with regional leaders and Canada on February 19, following a similar meeting on February 17.
Invited countries include Norway, Canada, Lithuania, Estonia, Latvia, Czech Republic, Greece, Finland, Romania, Sweden and Belgium, according to the source.
On the same day, British press also reported that British Prime Minister Keir Starmer is planning to hold a summit on Ukraine for EU leaders right after his visit to Washington next week to maintain momentum to strengthen European security.
