Mr. Tran Tuan Anh ceased his duties as a National Assembly delegate.

On February 5, the National Assembly Standing Committee resolved to allow Mr. Tran Tuan Anh, Khanh Hoa delegation, to cease his duties as a delegate of the 15th National Assembly.

Secretary General of the National Assembly Bui Van Cuong said that the National Assembly Standing Committee voted to approve the above content, based on the opinions of the Politburo, the Presidium of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front and the Report of the Delegation Work Committee.

Previously, on January 30, Mr. Tran Tuan Anh submitted a request to resign from his duties as a National Assembly delegate.

At the extraordinary Central Conference on January 31, Mr. Tran Tuan Anh was dismissed by the Central Executive Committee from his position as Politburo member and member of the 13th Party Central Committee, according to his personal wishes.

The Central Executive Committee assessed Mr. Tran Tuan Anh as a senior official of the Party and State, who received basic training and was trusted by the Central Executive Committee of the Party and the Politburo to hold a number of important leadership positions. In his position as Secretary of the Party Committee and Minister of Industry and Trade for the 2016-2021 term, he made many efforts in directing and operating the work of the Industry and Trade sector, achieving important results.

However, he must bear the political responsibility of the leader when many violations occurred at the Ministry of Industry and Trade, many cadres and party members violated the law, were prosecuted criminally, disciplined by the party, and administratively. Fully aware of his responsibility to the Party and the people, Mr. Tran Tuan Anh submitted a request to resign from his assigned positions, quit his job, and retire.

Mr. Tran Tuan Anh was born in 1964, has a PhD in Economics, a Bachelor of Diplomacy; is from Pho Khanh Commune, Duc Pho District, Quang Ngai Province. He is a member of the 12th and 13th Central Committee; a member of the 13th Politburo; and a delegate to the 14th National Assembly. He has 6 years as Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade and Deputy Head of the Central Economic Commission. He held the position of Minister of Industry and Trade for 5 years (from April 2016) and was assigned to be Head of the Central Economic Commission from February 2021.

At the end of May 2021, voters nationwide elected 500 deputies to the 15th National Assembly. However, during the process of reviewing and confirming the qualifications of the elected candidates, the National Election Council did not confirm the qualifications of one deputy due to violations. Over the past three years, a number of deputies have been dismissed or dismissed from their duties, so the 15th National Assembly currently has 492 deputies.
