Mr. Li Qiang was elected Prime Minister of China.

On the morning of March 11, at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing, the First Session of the 14th National People's Congress of China held its 4th plenary session. The delegates elected Mr. Li Qiang as Prime Minister of the People's Republic of China.

Mr. Li Qiang was born in 1959, hometown: Rui'an City, Zhejiang Province; joined the Communist Party of China in 1983, studied at the Central Party School. He is currently a member of the Standing Committee of the Politburo of the Communist Party of China, 20th tenure. He is also a member of the Party Central Committee, 19th and 20th tenures; alternate member, 18th tenure; has held the positions of Secretary of the Shanghai Municipal Party Committee, Secretary of the Jiangsu Provincial Party Committee.

The session also elected other important positions such as: Vice Chairman and Member of the Central Military Commission of the People's Republic of China, Chairman of the State Supervisory Commission, Chief Justice of the Supreme People's Court, and Chief Procurator of the Supreme People's Procuratorate.

Earlier, on the morning of March 10, the Chinese National Assembly elected Xi Jinping to continue as President and Chairman of the Central Military Commission of the People's Republic of China; Zhao Leji, member of the Politburo Standing Committee, as Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (Chairman of the National Assembly); and Han Zheng as Vice President. The delegates also elected Vice Chairmen of the National Assembly and Secretary General of the National Assembly.

The first session of the 14th National People's Congress of China, taking place from March 5 to 13, is an extremely important event for China at a crucial moment as it embarks on a new journey of comprehensively building a modern socialist country.
