On the morning of October 18, the 10th National Congress of the Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) for the 2024-2029 term held its closing session.

Vice President of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Hoang Cong Thuy said that at the first conference of the 10th Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, democratic consultation elected 67 people to join the Presidium of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front. The 5 vacancies will be filled during the term.

The democratic consultation conference elected four members of the Presidium of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, 10th tenure, to join the Standing Committee of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, 10th tenure.

Mr. Do Van Chien, Politburo member, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Party Delegation of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, holds the position of Chairman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Thu Ha, member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Secretary of the Party Delegation of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, holds the position of Vice President and General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front.

Mr. Hoang Cong Thuy, member of the Party Delegation of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, holds the position of Vice Chairman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front.

Ms. To Thi Bich Chau, member of the Party Delegation of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, holds the position of Vice President of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front.

In addition, the Democratic Consultative Conference elected 7 members of the Presidium of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, 10th tenure, to hold the position of non-professional Vice Presidents of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, 10th tenure, including:

Ms. Ha Thi Khiet, former Secretary of the Party Central Committee, former Head of the Central Committee for Mass Mobilization; Ms. Nguyen Thi Doan, former member of the Party Central Committee, former Vice President.

Most Venerable Thich Thien Nhon, Deputy Supreme Patriarch of the Council of Patriarchs, President of the Executive Council of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha; Priest Tran Xuan Manh, President of the Central Committee for Solidarity of Vietnamese Catholics;

Ms. Nguyen Lan Huong, Member of the Standing Committee of the City Party Committee, Chairwoman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Hanoi City; Mr. Nguyen Phuoc Loc, Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee, Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Ho Chi Minh City; Mr. Do Hong Quan, Chairman of the Vietnam Union of Literature and Arts Associations.

Chairman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Do Van Chien was born on November 10, 1962, in Ninh Lai commune, Son Duong district, Tuyen Quang province. He has a degree in Agriculture from the University of Agriculture, majoring in Cultivation; and a senior degree in political theory.

Mr. Do Van Chien is a member of the 13th Politburo; Secretary of the 13th Party Central Committee; Member of the 10th (alternate), 11th, 12th, 13th Party Central Committee; National Assembly Delegate of the 13th, 14th, 15th terms.

Mr. Do Van Chien worked in Tuyen Quang province for a long time and held the following positions: Deputy Director of Tan Trao Son Duong Tea Agricultural Industry Enterprise; Vice Chairman of Son Duong District People's Committee; Deputy Head of the Provincial Party Committee's Finance and Administration Department; Deputy Head of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee's Organization Department; Secretary of the District Party Committee, Chairman of Yen Son District People's Council; Vice Chairman and then Permanent Vice Chairman of Tuyen Quang Provincial People's Committee; Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of Tuyen Quang Provincial People's Committee.

From August 2011 to February 2015, Mr. Do Van Chien was assigned by the Politburo to hold the position of Secretary of the Yen Bai Provincial Party Committee. He then held the position of Deputy Minister, Vice Chairman of the Ethnic Committee (February 2015 - April 2016) and then Minister, Chairman of the Ethnic Committee (April 2016 - January 2021).

On April 12, 2021, at the 4th Conference of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, term IX, Mr. Do Van Chien was elected to hold the position of Chairman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front.

On May 16, at the 9th Central Conference of the 13th tenure, the Party Central Committee elected Mr. Do Van Chien as a member of the Politburo.
