Starting the preliminary selection from March 2024, this year in addition to the two localities of Bac Lieu and Ho Chi Minh City, the award has an additional preliminary selection location in the Southeast region (Ba Ria - Vung Tau province), contributing to creating more favorable conditions for candidates nationwide to apply. This year, the contest recorded nearly 500 candidates participating in the preliminary selection.
The competition went through the "Sowing Seeds" rounds to select: 80 contestants in the "Non-seedling" round, 18 contestants in the "Potato" round, 12 contestants in the "Golden Rice" round, and finally selected 6 contestants for the final ranking round at 1:00 p.m. on January 11 at VOH Music One Theater.

This year, there are also many new judges who are extremely famous cai luong artists: People's Artist Thanh Nam, People's Artist Phuong Loan, People's Artist Trong Phuc, Meritorious Artist Le Tu, along with two veteran judges of BLV over the years: Meritorious Artist Huynh Khai and Meritorious Artist Thanh Hang. In addition to judging, the judges also gave many useful professional comments to the contestants.
After the dramatic, nerve-wracking journey of the rounds, the Top 6 contestants revealed to compete in the "Final Ranking" this afternoon are:
Nguyen Thi Ha Xuyen (1990, Hau Giang) will perform the excerpt "Half a Life of Perfume"; Huynh Van Tanh (1991, Long An) will perform "Grand Tutor Tran Thu Do"; Khuu Hoai Thuong (1983, Bac Lieu) will perform "Nang Xe Da"; Lam Thi Thuy Linh (1993, Binh Thuan) will perform "Against the Wind"; Nguyen Tan Sieng (2000, Soc Trang) will perform "Two Paths of Life" and Nguyen Huynh Nhu (1993, Bac Lieu) will perform "Echoes of Hon Cave".
Prize structure:
– First Prize: SJC Gold-plated Golden Rice Cup + 100 million VND.
– Second Prize: Cup + 50 million VND.
– Third Prize: Cup + 20 million VND.
– 03 Consolation Prizes: Certificate + 5 million VND.
– Audience and listener favorite award: Cup + 10 million VND.
– Impressive Style Award: Certificate + 3 million VND.
– 06 Golden Rice Round contestants who did not make it to the Final Ranking will be granted a Voice Certificate by the Organizing Committee to enter the Golden Rice Final Round in 2024 + 1 million VND.
In the final Gala round, each contestant will perform an excerpt of no more than 15 minutes with the assistance of professional artists.
The Golden Rice 2024 Final will open at 1:00 p.m. at the VOH Theater. The program will be broadcast live on radio and television. Audiences can watch it through the above channels or attend at the theater auditorium.
