Ha Tinh's agricultural sector is gradually transforming its production model towards circularity, organicity, and production according to standards and regulations. This journey not only creates new values but is also the goal of modern production - green growth, green consumption.
Production redirection
Since switching to organic farming methods, the orange garden of Hoai Luan Private Enterprise (Vu Quang) has always grown well and laden with fruit during the harvest season.
Entering the second year since deciding to switch to organic production, this year's Tet orange crop, Hoai Luan Private Enterprise (Vu Quang) continues to welcome the joy of victory. Mr. Doan Quoc Hoai - Director of Hoai Luan Private Enterprise shared: "With 10 hectares (8 participating households), we fully comply with the organic production process, apply scientific and technological advances and trace the origin of each orange.
Since changing the farming method, the garden has grown well, many beneficial organisms have returned to the environment. It is expected that this year's orange output will reach about 120 tons, with the selling price at the garden being at least 50,000 VND/kg, surpassing other types of oranges. At the end of November, our orange and lemon products were recognized as meeting national standards for organic agriculture. This is the result of our efforts and also clearly identifies the journey we have chosen - clean production for a safe life."
On the days before Tet, the orange gardens are bright yellow, bringing joy to farmers.
On the way to Vu Quang, Huong Khe, Huong Son on the eve of Tet, the season of ripe oranges, the hills are bright yellow. Along the way, dozens of large signs "Organic orange production model"; "Orange production cooperative according to VietGAP standards"... are continuously posted with information about the gardeners, production processes, QR codes for tracing the origin are made public for people to easily follow. In recent years, good production processes such as VietGAP, GlobalGAP, organic have been increasingly applied to fruit tree production. Associated with the building of the OCOP brand, local agricultural products are gradually being identified on the "map" of production and consumption markets.
Also boldly seeking new economic development directions, Mr. Tran Nam Giang in village 10, Son Truong commune (Huong Son) invested in a closed-loop livestock farming model. “The model has 20 sows and more than 200 wild boars for meat; 20 deer for velvet; 1,000 m2 of freshwater fish pond. Taking advantage of agricultural products and by-products, I raise earthworms to treat livestock waste; earthworm manure is used to fertilize vegetables, tubers, fruits, and medicinal plants to feed wild boars; earthworms are used as fish feed” - Mr. Giang said. To increase production efficiency, he opened a Nam Giang wild boar meat processing workshop and was recognized by the Provincial People's Committee as a 3-star OCOP product in 2021. Currently, each year, the model earns a revenue of more than 1 billion VND, earning a profit of 400-500 million VND.

By the end of 2023, the whole province will have nearly 2,000 hectares of various crops certified with VietGAP and GlobalGAP; 3 aquaculture facilities certified with VietGAP; 8 livestock farms certified with VietGAHP. To date, the whole province has 28 facilities certified with HACCP, GMP, ISO 22000 standards... still in effect. Of which, 8 agricultural and aquatic product processing facilities have HACCP certificates; 16 agricultural and aquatic product processing facilities have GMP certificates and 4 processing facilities have ISO certificates.
Ha Tinh has 22 certified safe product supply chains and 60 organic production models in localities. This shift has made an important contribution to the results of the whole industry with an estimated growth rate of 2.7%; the total value of agricultural, forestry and fishery production (at comparable prices) is estimated at 13,900 billion VND; the production value per unit area is 97.5 million VND/ha; the proportion of livestock farming remains at over 53% of the structure of agricultural production value; the forest coverage rate is over 52.5%. In 2023, the whole province will also increase by 3,600 hectares of concentrated and accumulated land, bringing the total area of concentrated and accumulated land to nearly 10,700 hectares, reaching 62% of the target of implementing Resolution No. 06-NQ/TU of the Provincial Party Committee.
Multi-value, sustainable exploitation

Mr. Nguyen Van Viet - Director of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development said: “2024 is a decisive year to complete the goals and 5-year plan for 2021-2025 and the pilot project to build a province that meets NTM standards. Accordingly, the sector continues to focus on directing and concretizing the viewpoints, goals and orientations on organic, safe, ecological, efficient, sustainable, multi-value integrated agriculture; strongly shifting to developing agricultural economy with the market, science and technology and linking with enterprises through cooperatives and cooperative groups as the driving force; selecting advantageous and endemic plants and animals to build an organic, circular agriculture according to the roadmap. This is the key task in restructuring the sector to create bold and visionary steps to transform to a green, low-emission and sustainable food and beverage system according to the orientation of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development and the tasks of the Resolution of the 19th Provincial Party Congress”.
The "3 in 1" urban agricultural model combining rice, aquatic vegetables, shrimp, fish, and crab in Thach Ha commune (Ha Tinh city) has begun to be effective, exploiting multiple values to develop the rural economy.
In 2024, the agriculture and rural development sector strives for a growth rate of over 2.5%; total production value (at comparable prices) of over 14,300 billion VND; strives to increase the scale of organic cropland (rice, vegetables, fruit trees) and meet organic standards by 0.3-0.5% of the total area (over 500-700 hectares); increase from 20-50 models of organic, circular pig, cow, deer, and poultry farming; build 1-2 organic aquaculture models...
In particular, agricultural models associated with eco-tourism development such as: green tourism in Hoa Thi village - Tho Dien commune (Vu Quang), Phu Lam village - Phu Gia commune (Huong Khe); model of developing agricultural and rural tourism chains linking destinations, forming tours associated with agricultural production, craft villages (Son Kim 1 commune, Huong Son); "3 in 1" urban agricultural model combining rice, aquatic vegetables, shrimp, fish, crab; "eco-agricultural park" in Ha Tinh city... are the "nucleus" to open up a new development direction for the rural economy - multi-value, green growth associated with protecting the ecological environment.
In the spring crop of 2024, Cam Vinh commune (Cam Xuyen) will pilot the production of 5 hectares of organic rice variety DT39 in collaboration with Que Lam Group Joint Stock Company, replicating organic production models in the area.
The Department of Agriculture and Rural Development is also completing the Organic Agriculture Project in Ha Tinh province for the period 2023-2030, affirming the new phase of agriculture, attracting businesses to participate. Mr. Nguyen Hong Lam - Chairman of the Board of Directors of Que Lam Group Joint Stock Company (Hue City) said: “In Ha Tinh, the company has built models of plants and animals according to organic standards; formed a number of consumer store chains, initially contributing to changing the thinking of producers and consumers about organic agriculture. The implementation of the Organic Agriculture Project will create a "path" for production to develop along the chain, exploiting the multi-value of local agricultural products; changing the awareness of producers; attracting the participation of the entire political system and society to build organic agriculture, shared agriculture, and circular agriculture".
