From early morning, in the chilly weather of the new school year, hundreds of parents and students were present at the headquarters of the People's Committee of Ea Dah commune (Krong Nang district) to receive meaningful gifts to help prepare for the new school year.

On the morning of September 4, more than 200 white shirts, 1,000 notebooks and many school supplies were distributed to students from grades 1 to 9 in Ea Dah commune. The program was organized by the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Ea Dah commune and Ms. Bui Thi Nga (residing in Buon Ma Thuot city) and a group of volunteers in Ho Chi Minh city. This is a program to give white shirts to poor students and students in especially difficult circumstances.

Ea Dah Commune is a remote commune, where people’s lives still face many difficulties. The cost of buying books, new clothes, school supplies, etc. for their children is always a concern for many parents. Before the new school year this year, many parents and students received meaningful gifts such as clothes, books, school bags, etc., which helped to reduce some of the financial burden and prepare the children to happily go to school.

Ho Thi Mai Sinh (pink shirt) and her friends in Giang Dong village traveled 15km to receive new white shirts and meaningful gifts.

For many students, having a new white shirt to wear to school is an indescribable joy. Although the place where the gift was given was more than 15 km away, the road was difficult to travel and they had to leave very early, the happy smile on the lips of Ho Thi Mai Sinh (Giang Dong village, Ea Dah commune, grade 2 student of Ea Dah Primary School) said it all. Sinh shared: “I am very happy because this year I have a new white shirt to wear, new notebooks to write on and many school supplies. I promise to be good and study hard, wear clean clothes so that my clothes will last longer.”

Similarly, Mrs. Ha Thi Uan (Giang Chau village, Ea Dah commune) also brought her grandson Nguyen Ngoc Phong (3rd grade student, Ea Dah Primary School) to the gift receiving location early in the morning. Mrs. Uan's family is a poor household in the commune. This school year, due to difficult economic conditions and crop failure, her family discussed letting her grandson wear old clothes from last year, only buying really necessary items. When the village announced that disadvantaged students would receive white shirts, Phong was very happy. Mrs. Uan said that Phong was so excited that he couldn't sleep all night because he knew that he would soon receive a new white shirt, and urged her to take him to receive the gift early in the morning.

According to Mr. Dinh Chi Nghia, Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front of Ea Dah commune, although these gifts are not large, they will partly help poor students to happily go to school with their friends. "Hopefully, the gifts will contribute to serving the learning needs, creating good results for disadvantaged students in the new school year 2023 - 2024", Mr. Nghia said.

On the threshold of the new school year, the joint efforts and support of the whole society not only share the difficulties and shortages with students but also provide spiritual encouragement, adding confidence and determination to help them firmly step on the path of learning. In addition, the meaningful support has also contributed to reducing the financial burden for disadvantaged families.

Within the framework of the program, the organizers awarded a scholarship worth 3 million VND to Ha Thi Thuy Linh (Giang Chau village) who has a particularly difficult situation. Linh's parents died early, so Linh lived with her grandparents since she was little. Despite the difficulties, Linh still strived to study and just passed the entrance exam to Ho Chi Minh City Banking University.
