(Dan Tri) - Quitting their stable jobs or putting aside their newly received university degrees, 5 girls in Can Tho City volunteered to join the military.
The Law graduate loves the color of the soldier's uniform. Having just graduated from university with a major in Economic Law, Pham Hoang Kim (23 years old, living in Ninh Kieu district, Can Tho city) immediately wrote a volunteer application to join the military in 2024 to fulfill her dream in life. Kim said that her grandfather and uncle were both in the army. Since childhood, Kim has been influenced by the disciplined lifestyle and strong will of soldiers. No one knows since when, Kim has loved the green uniform and wanted to continue the path of "serving the people" like her grandfather.

The goal of becoming a soldier is considered by Kim as a guiding principle. Therefore, the young girl constantly strives and trains. At the age of 18, Kim passed the university entrance exam, at the age of 22, after receiving a bachelor's degree in Law, Kim wrote a volunteer application to join the army. "Since receiving the notice of enlistment, I have been happy and nervous, many sleepless nights. My parents often talk to me and cook my favorite dishes. During the recent Tet holiday, relatives and friends also came to visit and encourage me. I know that being a soldier will be hard, but I think that if I am determined, I can overcome everything. After completing my duty, I want to continue to stay in the army to serve the Fatherland," Kim shared. As for Kim's family, when they learned about their daughter's intention, they were very supportive, encouraging and helping her to conquer her dream. Ms. Nguyen Kim Hien (Kim's mother) confided: "Since she was little, I knew my daughter wanted to join the army. When she was in high school, she intended to join the army, but at that time Kim had not finished school, so her family encouraged her to complete her studies. Now that she has graduated, her family is very supportive of her decision. However, she has never been away from home for too long, so I am also worried, but she said she will overcome everything." Putting aside her current job to "join the army" Among the 5 youth union members in Can Tho who voluntarily wrote an application to join the army this year, there is Ms. Truong Anh Dao, currently the Secretary of the Youth Union of Region 3, Tra An Ward (Binh Thuy District, Can Tho City). Ms. Anh Dao said that she previously graduated from the Pharmacy major at Tay Do University, then she returned to her locality to participate in the Youth Union work until now.

According to the girl, Dao joined the army to continue her family's tradition because her grandfather had participated in the resistance war, and her father and relatives were also soldiers. "Although I am a girl, I hope to be a small part of the Vietnam People's Army. Moreover, since I was a child, I have dreamed of wearing the green of a soldier's uniform to contribute to serving my homeland," Anh Dao happily said. In the near future, Anh Dao will join the military environment at the Military School of Military Region 7. Similar to Anh Dao, Ms. Phan Yen Nhi (25 years old, living in Cai Rang district, Can Tho city) also quit her job to pursue her dream of becoming a female soldier. In 2021, Nhi graduated from university with a major in Tourism and Travel Services Management from Can Tho University. After that, Nhi has worked at a dental clinic in the city until now.

When her family learned that their daughter wanted to join the army, they were worried, but seeing her determination and strong will, her relatives were very supportive. Nhi herself also hopes that the 2 years in the military school will help her train her spirit and physical strength, and contribute to protecting her homeland and the Fatherland.
