TPO – Thuan An overpass – the longest seaport traffic project in the Central region, is about to complete the construction of the last girders to connect the two banks after more than 2 years of construction in Hue City.
According to the plan, phase 1 of the project will be implemented in 3 years, completed in March 2025, with the TT-Hue Provincial Traffic Construction Investment Project Management Board as the investor; the joint venture of Tan Nam Construction Joint Stock Company - Dat Phuong Group Joint Stock Company - 479 Hoa Binh Company will undertake the construction. |
Mr. Nguyen Nam Tung - Project Manager of the contractor Dat Phuong Group Joint Stock Company, said that currently, the construction site has completed 70% of the construction volume of the packages according to the contract value, meeting the set schedule to complete the project according to the scheduled time in March next year. |
According to the reporter's records at the construction site, the construction unit is currently focusing on completing the most difficult and complicated construction part of the project. That is the main tower T27 and T26 located on the sea surface, with a height ensuring a 39m clearance for ships with a capacity of more than 5,000 tons entering and leaving Thuan An port. There is also an A-shaped tower 72m high from the water surface to the top of the tower. |
At the two pillars T27 and T26, workers have to work at an altitude of nearly 40m above sea level, nearly 19m higher than a normal bridge project. With a distance of about 220m between the two pillars T27 and T26, the implementation of the symmetrical balanced cantilever technique here is always closely monitored to avoid errors when connecting the entire project. |
According to Mr. Nguyen Dinh Quyen - Deputy Director of the Traffic Construction Project Management Board of Thua Thien Hue province, taking advantage of favorable weather, the project is currently speeding up its progress to open the route by the end of 2024. Currently, the contractors are gradually completing the construction of the entire system of abutments, piers, and bridge girders; at the same time, preparing to construct the cable-stayed tower system. |
However, the project is currently facing difficulties due to site clearance. At the southern approach road in Thuan An ward, the contractor had to stop after constructing about 100m of the roadbed due to many houses that had not been cleared. |
“We request the functional units of Hue City to speed up the clearance and handover of the construction site. There is not much time left from now until the completion of the project. If the new site is handed over during the peak of the storm in the next 2 months, the construction will encounter difficulties and interruptions, which will affect the overall progress of the entire project,” the representative of the construction contractor suggested. |
The coastal road project through Thua Thien Hue province and Thuan An seaport overpass (Hue city) has a total investment of VND2,400 billion in phase 1. The project has a route length of 7.785km, of which the overpass is 2.36km. According to the design, the seaport overpass has 50 pillars, 2 abutments, with a main span of 218m long and 40m high. This is an Extradosed bridge (mixed girder-cable bridge) which is one of the longest and highest in our country today. The bridge tower is 32m high, designed in an A-shape above to create an aesthetic for the project. The height from the water surface to the top of the tower is 72m.
