TPO - Heavy rain that lasted from last night caused many inner-city streets in Hanoi to be congested for many hours this morning (March 19), making it difficult for people in the capital to get to work.

According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, due to the influence of cold air, combined with wind convergence above 1,500m, from the night of March 18 to March 19, the North and North Central regions will have scattered showers and thunderstorms, locally heavy rain with rainfall from 15 - 30mm, in some places over 70mm.

Recorded on the morning of March 19, heavy rain lasted for many hours from night to dawn, causing roads such as Xuan Thuy, Quan Hoa, Ho Tung Mau... to be completely blocked.

Each line of vehicles is dense and moves slowly.

Xuan Thuy Street at 8am was jammed, traffic jam stretched for kilometers.

Traffic jams everywhere, many students and working people shake their heads in frustration because they are late.

Many vehicles climb onto the sidewalk during rush hour in the hope of avoiding traffic jams.

Along the Quan Hoa river bank, vehicles, motorbikes and cars jostle each other to move forward little by little.

Quan Hoa Street was jammed at around 8am.

The Meteorological Center warns that the North is about to enter the transitional season (April and May). During this time, cold air often causes moderate to heavy rain and thunderstorms. During thunderstorms, there is a possibility of weather phenomena such as tornadoes, lightning, hail and strong gusts of wind.
