According to the registration data table for first choice, schools in the top 1 or top 2 often have a large number of registered students. Meanwhile, schools in the top 3 or top 4 have a very low number of registered students for first choice, such as Le Thi Hong Gam High School (District 3), Nguyen Van Linh (District 8), Dien Hong (District 10), Thanh Da (Binh Thanh District), Phong Phu (Binh Chanh District)... The reason is that they will choose students for second and third choice to ensure a place in public grade 10, so the number of students registering for second and third choice in these schools will be very high.
SCHOOLS WITH INCREASING COMPETITION
Based on NV 1 registration data for grade 10, it often shows that schools with top benchmark scores still maintain a high level of competition, especially Nguyen Thuong Hien High School (Tan Binh District).
Homeroom teachers guide parents to register their students' wishes for grade 10.
Comparing NV1 registration data and enrollment targets between 2022 and 2023 shows that last year, Nguyen Thuong Hien High School had a target of 600 students and 1,478 students registered, which means the competition ratio is about 2.4. This year, the regular class quota decreased by 45 students, meaning only 555 students were recruited, but 1,597 students registered for NV1, which means the competition ratio is 1/2.8.
Or Gia Dinh High School (Binh Thanh District), while last year there were 1,749 students registered for NV 1 and the quota was 790, this year there are 1,913 students registered while the quota decreased by 55 students, only 735. Thus, the competition ratio increased from 1/2.2 to 1/2.6.
Thu Duc High School (Thu Duc City) also increased its competition ratio. Although its enrollment target is the same as last year, with 810 students, this year 1,855 students registered, in 2022 there were 1,626. This led to an increase in the competition ratio from 1/2 to 1/2.3.
Or Le Quy Don High School (District 3), this year the enrollment target is 525, a reduction of 35 students per class, but the number of NV 1 registrations is the same as last year, 1,190 students. Therefore, the competition ratio of this school is 1/2.26, an increase compared to the previous enrollment season.
Grade 9 students will take the grade 10 entrance exam on June 6 and 7.
SCHOOL WITH STABLE ACCEPTANCE RATE
In addition, there are some top high schools that are stable in terms of competition compared to last year. For example, Nguyen Thi Minh Khai High School (District 3) has an enrollment target of 735 and 1,520 students chose to register for NV 1, which means the competition ratio is 1/2. Similarly, Bui Thi Xuan High School (District 1) has 1,493 students registering out of a total of 745 enrollment targets and the competition ratio is 1/2.
Le Hong Phong High School for the Gifted leads in the number of students registering for NV
In the specialized schools and classes, Le Hong Phong High School for the Gifted still leads in the number of students registering with 3,223 people, so the average competition ratio to enter this school is 1/3.6. Next is the specialized class of Nguyen Thuong Hien High School with 1/3.4; Tran Dai Nghia High School for the Gifted with 1/2.9... However, according to experts, this is only the general competition ratio for the whole school, and each specialized class will be different. Normally, specialized classes in English, math, literature... are the subjects with high competition ratio.
With 12 high schools enrolling for integrated English 10th grade classes, Tran Dai Nghia High School for the Gifted has the highest number of students registering for NV, followed by Le Hong Phong, Gia Dinh, Phu Nhuan, Nguyen Thuong Hien, Nguyen Thi Minh Khai... Nguyen Huu Cau High School (Hoc Mon District) has only 13 students registered for this program because it is the first year enrolling for this program.
SCHOOLS WITH DECREASE ACCEPTANCE RATIO
According to statistics and data analysis, schools with reduced competition rates are all due to increased enrollment targets this year.
For example, Tran Phu High School (Tan Phu District) is a top school chosen by many students in Tan Binh District, Tan Phu District, and District 12. However, this year the quota increased by 135 students, so the competition ratio decreased from 1/1.87 last year to approximately 1/1.7 this year.
Similarly, Ngo Quyen High School (District 7) recruited 180 more students this year, so the competition ratio was 1/2.1 in 2022, but this year it decreased to 1/1.7.
Or Luong The Vinh High School (District 1), this year recruited 420 students, an increase of 80 quotas compared to last year, but only 444 students registered for NV 1. Meanwhile, in the 2022 enrollment season, the quota was 340 but nearly 600 students registered for NV 1.
The 10th grade exam takes place in early June.
