According to the People's Committee of Hoi An city, the "Cu Lao Cham - Red Corn Season" Festival aims to inform and promote historical and cultural values, unique features of natural resources, culture and people of Cu Lao Cham, Hoi An to domestic and foreign tourists.
Coming to the "Cu Lao Cham - Red Parasol Season" Festival, visitors will have the opportunity to visit a photo exhibition of parasol flowers, images of the Cu Lao Cham - Hoi An World Biosphere Reserve; and see with their own eyes the population of red parasol flowers at Bai Xep - a unique and endemic plant of Cu Lao Cham Island.
In addition, visitors can experience weaving hammocks made of cotton and immerse themselves in the "Cu Lao Night" program with space for singing and dancing; bolero music night; demonstration of weaving hammocks made of cotton, making banh it la gai, performing folk games: playing lu, village flags, four-leaf flags... or enjoy delicious cuisine, fresh seafood, and shop for souvenirs at the "Cu Lao Cham" night market and the "Island Delicacies" Cu Lao Cham product market.
In particular, in the opening program of the "Cu Lao Cham - Red Cornflower Season" Festival in 2024 on the evening of July 21, the reception of the title of national intangible cultural heritage, the traditional craft "Woven cornflower hammock weaving in Cu Lao Cham" will be held. This is a meaningful event contributing to honoring and recognizing the unique and typical values of the traditional craft "Woven cornflower hammock weaving" and raising the awareness and responsibility of the community in preserving and promoting intangible cultural values associated with developing the Cu Lao Cham tourism brand./.
