Despite the devoted care of doctors and nurses, due to old age and poor health, after a period of active treatment, the musician did not survive.
The musician's funeral will take place at the Ministry of National Defense Funeral Home (5 Pham Ngu Lao Street, Ho Chi Minh City).
Musician Lu Nhat Vu, real name Le Van Gat, was born in 1936 in Thu Dau Mot City, Binh Duong. He was one of the revolutionary artists with many outstanding compositions during the resistance war such as: "Sang ra cong truong", "Gui ban Algeria", "Chiec khan ran"... These works touched people's hearts and were an indispensable spiritual motivation for the revolutionary movement.
Later, his compositions were strongly influenced by folk music and Southern elements. Songs such as “Co gai Sai Gon di tai am bao”, “Khuc hat nguoi di khai rai”, “Hay yen long me oi” and especially “Bai ca dat Phuong Nam” (released in 1997, used as music in the movie “Dat phuong nam”) were loved by many people because of their ability to evoke with melody, rhythm, and sound the time of settlers opening up the land, carrying layers of regional cultural meaning and the character and identity of the Southern people.
On March 14, 2024, musician Lu Nhat Vu was awarded the 45-year Party membership badge and his wife (poet Le Giang) was awarded the 75-year and 70-year Party membership badges, recognizing the great contributions of the couple to Vietnamese music and revolution.
Lu Nhat Vu's composing career is a long journey with many remarkable achievements. His songs are not only valuable in terms of music but also profound in terms of emotions, enriching Vietnamese music.
