The economic crisis is severely affecting the financial situation of V-League clubs. Most notably, the leadership of SLNA Club has announced that it will cut all the winning or drawing bonuses in V-League that were suspended at the beginning of the season.

Previously, the team was awarded 500 million VND for an away win and 400 million VND for a home win. In the first 4 rounds, SLNA awarded 200 million VND for 2 draws at Thanh Hoa and Khanh Hoa stadiums.

However, all of the above will only be memories when SLNA Club's leaders announced that sponsor Tan Long will cut all performance bonuses from now until the end of V-League 2023. This means the team will have to "play for free".

When V-League 2023 returned in round 8, SLNA Club had a "Nghe Derby" match where they were led 0-2 by goals from Trung Hoc and Jose Paulo, but then played hard and equalized 2-2 thanks to goals from Olaha and Soladio Kandolo.

Not only asking the team to "play for free", some players in the SLNA team said that Tan Long Group also affirmed that it will change its strategy, focusing on using young players who only receive salaries for long-term development, and is willing to say goodbye to key players to preserve the budget.

Previously, SLNA Club also owed salaries and bonuses to young players at the academy for a long time and had only recently been able to pay them all. It is also understandable when Tan Long Group is said to be facing many difficulties and forced to cut spending.

SLNA players will "play alone" from now until the end of the tournament.

This makes the SLNA team face a rather uncertain future because in football, competing with rewards and without rewards, only receiving salary, is very different.

This is true not only in Vietnam but also in the world, with bonus details being included directly in the player's contract and the season's performance bonus being posted by the club right from the start of the tournament.

SLNA Club now plays mainly for spirit. Like in the draw with Hong Linh Ha Tinh Club, the players played with great effort even though they did not receive bonuses. But in the long run, it will be difficult for Coach Huy Hoang to demand more from his already weak and under-performing team, which is now very difficult to "lift" due to lack of doping bonuses.
