Episode 28, which aired on the evening of March 22, Mr. Hop is no longer as fierce as in previous episodes. The scene where he looks forward to meeting Ngan - his most beloved daughter - makes the audience feel heartbroken.
The tragedy of the father in Wish We Could Fly Together
Mr. Hop is patriarchal, irritable, alcoholic and obsessed with material things and fame.
So he tried every way to get Ngan - the most beautiful daughter in the family - to marry a Taiwanese tycoon, thinking that her daughter would have a happy life and his family would also benefit.

He also used all the family's money to buy antiques, despite the fact that the family had no money left to spend at home.
At the climax, at the end of episode 26, when he discovered that the gold he gave to his daughter Ngan as a dowry when he got married was swapped by his youngest son, Mr. Hop went crazy, scolded his wife, beat his child, and strangled his child until he could suffocate. The whole poor neighborhood was in chaos.

Moviegoers reacted harshly to his treatment of his children. Some even said they "wanted to tear him apart after watching the movie."
But then everything came crashing down before him. Mr. Hop was diagnosed with terminal cancer.
The antique bought for 40 taels of gold turned out to be a fake.
Beloved daughter married a Taiwanese man because she was angry when her dowry gold was gone and she did not visit her father.
Dad is still dad
The image of Mr. Hop in Wish We Fly Together is built in contrast to the usual image of fathers in Vietnamese television dramas. This creates the uniqueness of Wish We Fly Together.

However, the screenwriter gradually revealed Mr. Hop's sad life in the episodes so that the audience could understand why there was a father as hateful and pitiful as Mr. Hop.
Whatever father is still father, runner-up Mr. Hop is a man with high self-respect and self-esteem, but he has almost nothing to be proud of in his life.
He missed the opportunity to live a rich life because of "bad luck", living in a poor residential area with low education level.
"At first, I found him very hateful. But when I learned the reason why he acted like that, I understood that this was a character with a lot of inner turmoil. I wish there were more pitiful characters on the flight ," Thuy Dung commented.
And actor Vo Dien Gia Huy, who plays Hoan - Mr. Hop's cursed son - said: "This father is very scary. In the movie, there are many scenes where Hoan is naughty and jokes with his father, but he never dares to say harsh words or do anything too outrageous for his father to know. Hoan respects and fears his father."
