Ngo Thanh Van is one of the names that attracts media attention for The Creator in Vietnam. She appears in a short but impressive supporting role.
The Creator was released at a time when AI was booming, affecting many aspects of life.
However, the film gives the audience a completely different perspective on AI, not simply the "final boss" like in the recent blockbuster Mission Impossible: Dead Reckoning Part One .
Ngo Thanh Van is not bland in American movies
After the screening, Ngo Thanh Van shared about her role: "I feel really lucky to be able to accompany big films and projects.
Although it can't be called grand yet, but having a little Vietnamese fish sauce on the world screen makes me feel very proud. Step by step, conquering the great mountain range, right everyone?".
In The Creator , Ngo Thanh Van plays Kami - a beautiful, cyberpunk robot.
Although only a supporting role with little screen time, Kami left a big impression thanks to his impressive appearance and strong personality. The character proves that AI robots can have their own emotions and thoughts.

She is also a mother figure to the main character, the robot girl Alfie. Kami helps her on her escape journey, takes care of her, and somewhat pampers her.
The encounter with Kami also plays a part in the robot girl's inner conflict about her role in the war.
The character also has Vietnamese dialogue, with a Vietnamese accent like: "Here's the money, no need to give change, please go."
Ngo Thanh Van shared about her role: "When participating in any Hollywood project, I always change the character's origin to Vietnamese.
If it's already a Vietnamese character, I often add typical Vietnamese elements to the Vietnamese dialogue.
When I have the opportunity to appear in an international project, I always want to make an impression so that people know that I am Vietnamese. The Vietnamese lines in The Creator are added by me."
She also said that she discussed with director Gareth Edwards many details surrounding the film's setting and Vietnamese language. The director allowed her to create dialogue for the character Kami.
Having worked with Michelle Yeoh in Crouching Tiger and Hidden Dragon : Sword of Destiny, Ngo Thanh Van revealed that her senior's Oscar win opened up opportunities for many Asian actors. The proof is The Creator.

When AI is a child
The movie The Creator is set in the future when AI has developed rapidly, replacing humans in most fields.
Disaster strikes when AI created to protect humans suddenly detonates a nuclear bomb in the middle of Los Angeles (USA). Millions of people die, war breaks out between America and machines.

After the disaster, the US banned all technologies related to artificial intelligence. However, Asian countries such as Japan, Thailand, Vietnam... still consider AI a great step forward for human development.
These countries established the New Asia region to counter the United States - a country that possesses the NOMAD nuclear satellite and can launch nuclear missiles anywhere on the globe.
The main character of The Creator is Joshua (John David Washington) - an American agent in New Asia. He is separated from his wife Maya (Gemma Chan) after a NOMAD attack. Thinking his wife is dead, Joshua collapses and returns to America.

Five years later, he returns to duty after learning that AI has created a weapon that could turn the tide of the war and that there is evidence that his wife is still alive. Joshua must find a way to destroy the weapon and find his wife's whereabouts.
When he arrived at the designated location, he was shocked to realize that this "weapon of destruction" was actually just a robot child named Alfie created by his wife.
Joshua takes the boy along to find his wife, amid an escalating conflict between humans and machines.
