On the morning of November 24, in Hanoi, leaders of the Ministry of Information and Communications had a meeting with the Global Vietnam National Day Project Board.

This meeting will create trust, connect with overseas Vietnamese, share the thoughts and aspirations of Vietnamese people living abroad, from which the leaders of the Ministry will have closer instructions to operate functional units, better perform the tasks assigned by the Party and State...

According to Deputy Minister of Information and Communications Nguyen Thanh Lam, connecting Vietnamese people globally with international friends, building and spreading Vietnamese values ​​around the world is extremely meaningful.

Global Vietnam Ancestral Day is a cultural event organized annually by the Global Vietnam Ancestral Day Project Board, starting in 2015, to create a common cultural day, connecting Vietnamese people around the world with international friends, building a cultural and friendship bridge between Vietnam and the world, honoring the descendants of King Hung who are living and working in all 5 continents.

During the meeting, for the first time, emotional stories were told by overseas Vietnamese themselves, stories about children living far away from home, or people born and raised abroad who have never been back to Vietnam, but the anniversary of the death of their ancestors urged them to return, with the desire to contribute to their homeland and country.

Since their grandparents told them about the Ancestor's Death Anniversary, about the Hung Kings... they have learned about Vietnam and Vietnamese culture on their own, with the desire to visit their homeland once, from there learn Vietnamese to better understand their cultural identity and roots... “Global Vietnam National Day has connected many Vietnamese people around the world, is an extension to preserve the identity and culture of Vietnam, that is very proud..." - Ms. Hai said.

Dr. Nguyen Thi Yen, an overseas Vietnamese in Austria, said she was very moved when she met the leaders of the Ministry of Information and Communications.

Dr. Nguyen Thi Yen, an overseas Vietnamese in Austria, said that the 9-year journey of the Global Vietnamese Ancestral Day not only has the meaning of preserving Vietnamese culture in places where Vietnamese people live but also has done many more practical things. According to the Global Vietnamese Ancestral Day Project Board, the most meaningful thing the Board has done is placing statues of Hung Kings in 13 countries around the world. Also during the past 9 years, the program has connected overseas Vietnamese in more than 50 countries around the world - something that no other program has been able to do.

Young man Mac Tuan Minh, born in 1993, an overseas Vietnamese in the US, said that through the Global Vietnamese National Day, he has connected with many Vietnamese people who are living and working very successfully in many fields, in many countries. In the US, where Minh lives, there are also Vietnamese people participating in the US government apparatus such as: Senators, Congressmen, Judges, Police... According to Minh, once Vietnamese people are connected, they will gather Vietnamese strength, Vietnamese intelligence, Vietnamese people will truly become global citizens and wholeheartedly turn towards Vietnam. What is more worth mentioning is that many successful young people like Minh are wishing to return to contribute to their homeland and country...

Also attending this meaningful meeting were Director of the Department of External Information Pham Anh Tuan and Deputy Director of the Department of International Cooperation Hoang Anh Tu.

During the meeting, Minh also shared a story that happened to a friend of his. Minh named that story 'Journey back to the East'. That Vietnamese friend's name is Tom, born and raised in the US, he just graduated from the US Army Training School at a very young age. But for Tom, he only had the experience of living in a faraway country, completely unaware of Vietnam.

But a big change came to Tom, that was when he first learned about the Global Vietnam National Day, the Vietnamese blood in Tom urged him to learn about Vietnam with a great desire, which was to return to his roots. Currently, Tom has hired a tutor to learn Vietnamese 3 times/week, he said, every day he can speak Vietnamese is the day Tom returns to Vietnam with the desire to contribute his efforts to the country in the field of education in which he was trained...
