With fluctuations in high school graduation exam scores in 2024, many experts predict that university entrance scores will increase, especially in group C.
Prof. Dr. Nguyen Dinh Duc, Chairman of the Council of the University of Technology, Vietnam National University, Hanoi, assessed that the score distribution of the social science exam, especially the subjects of literature and geography, had a high rate of excellent scores and low rate of below average scores.
Commenting on the exam scores, Mr. Tran Manh Tung, a math teacher in Hanoi, said that this year, the 10-point score fluctuated in the subjects of civics, chemistry, history, and geography.
Specifically, the number of 10-point exams in geography and history has increased dramatically. Of which, history has 2,108 absolute scores while in 2023 there were only 789 10-point exams.
Geography also had 3,175 candidates scoring 10 points this year, an increase of more than 90% compared to last year (35 students).
On the contrary, the number of candidates scoring 10 points in civic education has decreased sharply, with only 3,661 candidates nationwide scoring 10 points, while in 2023, over 14,600 candidates scored 10 points.
In general, most subjects with scores above 5 increased. Along with that, the rate of university admission based on graduation scores also decreased. This predicts that the 2024 benchmark score will increase.
Mr. Dinh Duc Hien, Vice Principal of FPT Bac Giang Primary, Secondary and High School, shared that the benchmark scores for groups C and D may increase by 0.5-2 points depending on the school. Mr. Hien even predicted that the benchmark scores for groups C and D at some schools may fluctuate greatly because a large number of scores will come when candidates change their preferences.
The deadline to register for university admission in 2024 is 5:00 p.m. on July 30. Candidates need to consider carefully to choose the right choice for themselves.
