About 500 bonsai trees from more than 200 gardeners are being displayed at Dong A Square, the historical and cultural relic site of Tran Temple - Thap Pagoda (Loc Vuong Ward, Nam Dinh City).

Among them, many ancient "super trees" have rare shapes, are hundreds of years old, and are valued at billions of dong, attracting the attention of tree enthusiasts and tourists.

About 500 unique bonsai trees are displayed at Dong A Square from February 5-13.

Typical and beautiful bonsai works are displayed right at the entrance. Each tree is a work of art, meticulously crafted over decades, some even taking more than half a person's life to complete.

One of the outstanding works is an ancient banyan tree with majestic roots and a wide canopy, representing longevity and steadfastness.

This ancient bonsai tree is considered a rare work by long-time bonsai enthusiasts because of its age, natural and harmonious shape, reaching perfection. This is one of the valuable bonsai trees, belonging to the “super tree” category, difficult to buy even with money.

The branches of the ancient banyan tree were softly bent, the roots were impressive. From the roots to the branches were covered with white mold over time, the scars had also healed.

The pair of statues named "Mai Phong Heroic Character" also attracted the attention of many visitors.

Mr. Tran Nhat Khoa (residing in Nam Dinh City), the owner of the pair of trees, said that the trees were created in an ancient style. The special thing is that when created, the two trees gently curved, symmetrically. One tree has branches that roll up and then fall down softly.

The pair of “Mai Phong Anh Hung Cach” trees are about 70 years old. The trees are nearly 2m tall, with a canopy diameter of more than 2m. The canopy layers are meticulously pruned, creating lush green layers. The tree trunks have a white cartilage “skin” bearing the mark of time.

According to Mr. Khoa, although many people have offered billions for a tree, he does not want to sell it. For him, each bonsai work is not only an asset but also a lifelong passion, so he only sells it to people who truly understand and have the fate.

Equally noteworthy in the exhibition area is a pair of ancient Duoi pieces that are over 100 years old.

The rough bark formed after hundreds of years, the tree base is massive, the main trunk stretches high, creating a rugged but still majestic appearance.

The branches are cut off all leaves, revealing their unique shape.

The tree trunk is bare but full of life. This is one of the ancient Duoi works with beautiful shape and artistic quality.

According to Mr. Tran Sy Hung, Chairman of the Nam Dinh City Ornamental Plants Association, this exhibition is an opportunity for artisans and gardeners to exchange experiences, while also creating conditions for people and tourists to visit and enjoy bonsai works.

This is also an opportunity for gardeners to trade, exchange, and promote the development of the ornamental plant market.
