Enhancing multilateral diplomacy, prioritizing diplomacy to serve economic development

Among the 26 officials appointed this time, there are 18 Ambassadors Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary, 8 Ambassadors and Consuls General representing Vietnam, all of whom have many years of experience in foreign affairs, working at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Central Foreign Affairs Commission and the Office of the President.

Congratulating the diplomatic officials who were trusted by the Party and State to be appointed, President Vo Van Thuong stated that this is a very important task, reserved for talented, dynamic officials with deep understanding of many fields. President Vo Van Thuong emphasized that the Ambassadors' term of office comes at a time when the whole country is accelerating the successful implementation of the Resolutions of the 13th National Party Congress.

Therefore, Ambassadors and Heads of representative agencies must thoroughly grasp and closely follow the Party's guidelines and policies and the State's laws and policies in all areas, especially foreign affairs. Grasp and deeply understand the situation of the country, deeply understand the domestic situation and have a firm grasp of the areas where tasks are carried out, thereby assessing, forecasting and advising the Party and State to develop appropriate foreign policies, promote cooperation, and not affect national and ethnic interests.

The President also asked the embassies to thoroughly grasp the instructions of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong at the 32nd Diplomatic Conference last December, in order to fulfill their duties well.

President Vo Van Thuong noted the need to prioritize diplomacy to serve economic development; focus on cultural diplomacy, considering this an important content for each person and each country to understand more about the country and people of Vietnam with sincere feelings, loyalty, humanity, the spirit of being ready to be a friend, a trustworthy partner of all countries, and an active member of the international community.

Along with that, continue to raise the level of multilateral diplomacy, actively and responsibly participate in regional and international mechanisms and forums; identify the important tasks and roles as a reliable support, support, and facilitation for Vietnamese citizens coming to the host country as well as overseas Vietnamese; be a bridge for the spirit of international solidarity that Vietnam is aiming for and developing.
