President To Lam presents appointment decisions to Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Public Security

On the afternoon of June 6, at the Presidential Palace, President To Lam chaired the ceremony to announce and present the President's decision to appoint Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Public Security for the 2021-2026 term.

Authorized by the President, Head of the Office of the President Le Khanh Hai announced the President's decisions to appoint Le Thanh Long as Deputy Prime Minister and Senior Lieutenant General Luong Tam Quang as Minister of Public Security. Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and other Party and State leaders presented flowers and congratulated Deputy Prime Minister Le Thanh Long and Minister of Public Security Luong Tam Quang.

Speaking at the ceremony, on behalf of the Party and State leaders, President To Lam sent congratulations to comrades Le Thanh Long and Luong Tam Quang; as well as the Government, the Prime Minister and the Central Public Security Party Committee, the Ministry of Public Security; the Party Committee, the Ministry of Justice.

The President affirmed that this is a great honor for the two comrades who have just been appointed, and a common joy for the Government, the Judiciary, and the Public Security; at the same time, it demonstrates the trust and concern of the Party, the State, and the people for the Government, the Judiciary, and the People's Public Security force; and the recognition and appreciation of the contributions and dedication of the two comrades in the assigned fields of work over the past years.

The President assessed that Comrade Le Thanh Long is an excellent cadre of the Party, the State and the Judiciary, who has received basic training, has held many leadership positions in the Judiciary, and has undergone training and challenges in the locality. Meanwhile, Senior Lieutenant General Luong Tam Quang is an excellent cadre of the Party, the State and the People's Public Security Force; his career is closely linked to the Public Security Force, the work of protecting national security, ensuring social order and safety and building the People's Public Security Force; has received basic training, has undergone many challenges, and has held many leadership positions in the People's Public Security Force.

The President affirmed that the appointment of Le Thanh Long to the position of Deputy Prime Minister and Senior Lieutenant General Luong Tam Quang to the position of Minister of Public Security demonstrates the Party and State's trust and great expectations for the two comrades.

In the context of the cause of building and defending the socialist Fatherland having very basic advantages, while also facing many difficulties and challenges, the President requested Deputy Prime Minister Le Thanh Long and Minister of Public Security Luong Tam Quang to continue to promote revolutionary traditions, maintain moral qualities, be absolutely loyal to the Party, the Fatherland and the people, wholeheartedly serve the Fatherland and the people, always study and follow the ideology, morality and style of President Ho Chi Minh; strive to be worthy of being exemplary leaders, excellently completing all assigned tasks, actively contributing to the cause of building and defending the Fatherland in the new situation.

The President requested Deputy Prime Minister Le Thanh Long, together with the Government, to inherit and promote the valuable traditions and experiences of the Government through the periods; to synchronously, resolutely and effectively carry out the tasks and powers of the Government according to the Constitution and laws. In particular, focusing on advising and leading the work of building and perfecting the Vietnamese socialist rule-of-law State of the people, by the people, for the people, led by the Communist Party of Vietnam; perfecting the legal system, upholding the Constitution; respecting, ensuring and protecting human rights and citizens' rights; unified state power, with clear division of labor, close coordination and effective control; building a professional, rule-of-law and modern administration and judiciary; a streamlined, clean and effective state apparatus.

The President also requested Senior Lieutenant General Luong Tam Quang, together with the Party Committee and the Standing Committee of the Central Public Security Party Committee, to inherit and promote the glorious tradition of the heroic Vietnam People's Public Security force, leading the entire force to continue to be exemplary, take the lead, and successfully implement the Party's resolutions, first of all the Resolution of the 13th National Party Congress, resolutions, directives, and conclusions on protecting the Fatherland, protecting national security, firmly protecting the achievements of the revolution, and national interests. At the same time, protect the Party, the State, the people, the socialist regime, the renovation process, and the national culture; avoid being passive or surprised in strategy, contributing to maintaining and creating peace, firmly consolidating and expanding Vietnam's living and development space, creating the most favorable conditions for socio-economic development and international integration; Focus on building a truly clean, strong, disciplined, elite, and modern People's Public Security force to meet the requirements and tasks in the new situation.

The President expressed his belief that, with the tradition of solidarity and unity, with the support and assistance of ministries, branches, localities, the entire people and army, comrades Le Thanh Long and Senior Lieutenant General Luong Tam Quang will excellently fulfill their assigned responsibilities.

Speaking at the ceremony, on behalf of the comrades who received the appointment decision, Deputy Prime Minister Le Thanh Long expressed his gratitude to the Party Central Committee, the Politburo, the Secretariat, General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, the President, the Government, the Prime Minister, the National Assembly, and the National Assembly Chairman for their trust, confidence, recommendation, approval, and appointment of him as Deputy Prime Minister and Senior Lieutenant General Luong Tam Quang as Minister of Public Security for the 2021-2026 term.

Deputy Prime Minister Le Thanh Long emphasized that this is a great honor, but also a very heavy responsibility before the Party, State and people, especially in the context that the country is determined to successfully carry out the key tasks and strategic breakthroughs set out in the Resolution of the 13th National Party Congress, including the task of continuing to perfect the legal system, law enforcement, and ensuring national defense and security in response to the country's rapid and sustainable development requirements.
