Improving policy communication skills for press agencies and grassroots information officers

Deputy Director of the Department of Information and Communications Nguyen Huy Hien spoke at the Conference

Attending the event were Mr. Nguyen Huy Hien - Deputy Director of the Department of Information and Communications; Mr. Truong Cong Kha - Head of the Communications Department, Provincial Social Insurance; Mr. Phan Dang Tam - Head of the Department of Population of Thua Thien Hue province; Representatives of leaders of telecommunications enterprises, and more than 500 students representing press agencies and grassroots information officers across the province.

In recent years, the implementation of policy communication in Thua Thien Hue province has been in the process of innovation and integration, contributing to improving the quality of propaganda and dissemination of the Party and State's policies and guidelines, foreign information work, making an important contribution to promoting the country, culture and people of Vietnam to international friends; implementing the foreign policy of independence, autonomy, diversification and multilateralization of international relations of our Party and State; contributing to enhancing the prestige and position of Vietnam in the international arena. However, besides the achieved results, there are still many limitations and shortcomings that need to be resolved.

Conference overview

At the training session, trainees were briefed on new and outstanding policies in the fields of social insurance, population and technology application to implement policy communication, and exchanged and discussed many related issues, thereby realizing the importance and effectiveness of applying technology to communication and policy work of the unit.

The conference also focused on the content related to the 2G shutdown policy of the Ministry of Information and Communications . This is a necessary policy, aiming to take advantage of frequency resources for modern telecommunications technologies, meeting the requirements of the national digital transformation process and popularizing smartphones, 4G/5G mobile networks in Vietnam. The students listened to and discussed in depth about the 2G shutdown policy and optimal conversion support plans for users of the network operators Mobifone, Viettel, Vinaphone.

Speaking at the Conference, Deputy Director of the Department of Information and Communications Nguyen Huy Hien hoped that through the Conference, it would contribute to limiting and overcoming shortcomings in policy communication work, improving the effectiveness of policy communication activities and essential political tasks, promoting the image of Thua Thien Hue province on the basis of applying scientific and technological advances in the 4.0 era.
