Ho Chi Minh City: An 18-year-old male student, after taking the high school graduation exam, was riding his motorbike home and collided with a truck, suffering multiple injuries. He was treated free of charge by doctors at Cho Ray Hospital.
The friend was slightly injured, the male student suffered multiple serious injuries and was transferred from Dong Nai to Cho Ray Hospital on June 28.
Dr. Tran Minh Vinh, Department of Traumatic Brain Injury, Cho Ray Hospital, said the patient suffered severe injuries to the head, face, ear - nose - throat and a fracture of the outer wall of the left eye socket. Fortunately, the patient's brain was not damaged as feared. Doctors expect that after treatment is stable, the patient will be transferred to the Central Hospital of Odonto-Stomatology for treatment of maxillofacial injuries.
The patient's family is in difficult circumstances. The father was driving a truck for hire when he heard about his son's accident. Dr. Nguyen Tri Thuc, Director of Cho Ray Hospital, decided to treat the patient for free.
Since June 17, the hospital has established a health consultation hotline before, during and after the exam season to support candidates. Cho Ray has established 10 emergency teams for exam season candidates who have health problems that need to be treated at home or hospitalized. All costs for examination and emergency treatment of candidates, other than those covered by health insurance, will be free of charge by the hospital.
The high school graduation exam took place on June 28-29 with more than one million candidates nationwide.
