In 2025, Hanoi Pedagogical University 2 plans to organize a competency assessment exam, increasing the number of admission methods from 5 to 6.
In previous years, except for direct admission and priority admission, the school divided its quota equally for considering high school graduation exam scores and considering the results of the capacity assessment exams of the following schools: Hanoi National University, Ho Chi Minh City National University, Hanoi Pedagogical University, Ho Chi Minh City Pedagogical University.
In addition, the school reserves a certain quota for reviewing transcripts.
With the organization of separate competency assessment exams, the quota for the above methods will be reduced to make room for the new method.

Similarly, Hanoi National University of Education will gradually increase the admission quota for the capacity assessment test scores organized by the school over the years.
Thus, reducing admission quotas by other methods, including considering high school graduation exam scores, will take place according to the roadmap.
This year, the number of candidates registering for the Hanoi National University of Education's competency assessment exam is 11,500, 2.5 times higher than last year.
National Economics University and Hanoi University of Science and Technology also plan to reduce admission quotas based on 2025 high school exam results.
Specifically, the National Economics University will reduce from 18% this year to 15% next year. Five years ago, this rate was 70%.
The school's combined admission method will increase from 80% to 83% from 2025. These methods include: considering SAT/ACT results, considering aptitude test results, assessing independent thinking or considering in combination with international English certificates.
The remaining 2% of the quota is for direct admission according to regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training.
At Hanoi University of Science and Technology, the graduation exam score target is expected to decrease from 50% to 40%.
The University of Commerce also plans to reduce the quota for the method of considering high school graduation exam scores to increase the quota for methods such as considering thinking assessment results and capacity assessment.
The school has not yet announced the reduction rate. However, school representatives said the reduction will be moderate to ensure fairness and quality of enrollment.
From 2025, the high school graduation exam will change according to the 2018 general education program. Candidates will take 4 subjects, including 2 compulsory subjects of literature and mathematics and 2 elective subjects from the following subjects: chemistry, physics, biology, geography, history, economic and legal education, information technology, technology and foreign languages.
The change in the number of subjects will lead to a change in the combination of subjects for university entrance exams. Schools will have to recalculate to balance the combination of subjects for admission to ensure fairness among candidates.
According to high school teachers, the percentage of students choosing subjects in traditional natural science combinations such as math - physics - chemistry, math - chemistry - biology is lower than that of students choosing social science subjects or the combination of block D00 (math - literature - English) and A01 (math - physics - English).
This leads to limited recruitment resources for science and technology training schools.
This is one of the reasons why schools calculate to reduce the admission rate based on high school graduation exam scores to ensure the source of input candidates.
