The Minister of Justice signed a Decision approving and announcing 10 outstanding events of the Justice sector in 2023. Among them, "The results of civil judgment enforcement on matters, money and asset recovery in corruption and economic cases all reached the highest level ever".

Specifically, in 2023, 574,819 cases were completed, collecting and resolving over 89 trillion VND, an increase of over 14 trillion VND compared to 2022 (of which, asset recovery in economic and corruption criminal cases increased by over 4,415 billion VND).

The official issuance of electronic civil status documents, contributing to promoting digital transformation in the activities of the Ministry of Justice, is also considered a prominent event of the sector in 2023.

The Ministry of Justice has upgraded and added the feature of creating electronic copies of Birth Certificates and Death Certificates of the shared electronic civil status registration and management software, sending them to the public service software, connecting two groups of administrative procedures related to birth registration and death registration and piloting them in Hanoi and Ha Nam province from April 17, 2023.

After more than 1 month of pilot implementation, Hanoi has issued more than 9,500 electronic copies of Birth Certificates and 710 electronic copies of Death Certificate Extracts; Ha Nam province has issued more than 1,600 electronic copies of Birth Certificates and 450 electronic copies of Death Certificate Extracts.

The issuance of electronic civil status documents has contributed to simplifying and reducing administrative procedures, inconvenience, time and costs for people and businesses; helping authorities at all levels improve their management and operation capacity, thereby promoting economic growth and enhancing national competitiveness; contributing to promoting digital transformation in the operations of the Ministry of Justice.

10 outstanding events in 2023 of the Judiciary:

1. Focus on implementing Resolution No. 27-NQ/TW dated November 9, 2022 of the 13th Party Central Committee on continuing to build and perfect the socialist rule-of-law State of Vietnam in the new period.

2. Advise the Government to issue Resolution No. 126/NQ-CP dated August 14, 2023 on a number of solutions to improve the quality of work in building and perfecting the legal system and organizing law enforcement to prevent corruption, group interests and local interests.

3. The results of document review conducted by the Ministry of Justice ensure quality, legal value, practicality and effectiveness.

4. Establishing for the first time a mechanism for direct coordination of legal aid in criminal investigations.

5. The results of civil enforcement of judgments on money and property recovery in corruption and economic cases have all reached the highest level ever.

6. Breakthrough in job position guidance for judicial agencies at all levels.

7. Successfully organize the 4th National Excellent Mediator Competition and the Ceremony to honor 50 Vietnamese legal models in 2023.

8. Actively and proactively participate in shaping legal and judicial cooperation frameworks on a multilateral and global level, creating a basis for promoting bilateral cooperation.

9. Officially issue electronic civil status documents, contributing to promoting digital transformation in the activities of the Ministry of Justice.

10. Hanoi Law University completed the third and fourth cycle accreditation of key training programs; many marks in legal science research.
