Dismissal from office and resignation as National Assembly member of Mr. Nguyen Phu Cuong

On the afternoon of May 22, according to the agenda of the 5th session, the National Assembly held a separate meeting on personnel work. With 93.33% of the delegates voting in favor, the National Assembly passed a Resolution on the dismissal of Mr. Nguyen Phu Cuong, member of the Standing Committee of the National Assembly, Chairman of the Finance and Budget Committee, and the termination of his duties as a member of the 15th National Assembly, from the National Assembly delegation of Dong Nai province. The Resolution takes effect from the date of approval by the National Assembly, May 22, 2023.

Previously, on May 15, the Party Central Committee voted and unanimously dismissed Mr. Nguyen Phu Cuong from the position of member of the 13th Party Central Committee.

At a recent press conference to inform about the expected program of the 5th Session, Mr. Nguyen Tuan Anh, Deputy Head of the Delegation Affairs Committee of the National Assembly Standing Committee, said that on May 16, Mr. Nguyen Phu Cuong also submitted a request to resign from his duties as a National Assembly delegate and from positions elected by the National Assembly.

Mr. Nguyen Phu Cuong was born in 1967, from Binh Duong, has a Master's degree in Economic Management and a Bachelor's degree in Industrial Finance.

Mr. Cuong worked for many years at the Department of Finance of Dong Nai province. After that, Mr. Cuong held important leadership positions in Dong Nai such as Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Council, etc.

In July 2021, at the first session of the 15th National Assembly, Mr. Cuong was elected as a member of the Standing Committee of the 15th National Assembly and Chairman of the National Assembly's Finance and Budget Committee.

At the 23rd session (2022), the Central Inspection Committee reviewed and concluded signs of violations by the Party Committee of the Dong Nai Provincial People's Committee. The conclusion clearly stated that the responsibility for the above violations and shortcomings belongs to the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee, the Party Committee of the Dong Nai Provincial People's Committee and many local leaders at that time, including Mr. Nguyen Phu Cuong, member of the Party Central Committee, Chairman of the National Assembly's Finance and Budget Committee, former Secretary of the Dong Nai Provincial Party Committee .
