Metro Line 1 resumes operation after being suspended in the rain

Metro Line 1 Ben Thanh - Suoi Tien had to stop for quite a while in the rain. Many passengers waited for dozens of minutes in the stations, some switched to other means of transport.

On the afternoon of January 14, many passengers on metro train 1 (Ben Thanh - Suoi Tien) reported that during the rain this afternoon, the train suddenly encountered an accident and had to stop halfway.

Accordingly, at around 5:00 p.m. the same day, a metro train 1 had to stop in the middle of the track during the rain. The incident caused the train to stop operating for more than half an hour.

On forums, many accounts posted about having to wait too long for the metro. Some stations such as Ba Son, Ben Thanh... had many passengers waiting for the train. Among them, many had to switch to technology cars or buses because they could not wait any longer.

Regarding the incident, the leader of Urban Railway Company No. 1 confirmed that metro train 1 had to stop due to technical problems. By nearly 6 p.m., the problem had been resolved and the trains returned to serving passengers.

HCMC Metro software also reported that the metro line has returned to normal operation after a temporary suspension due to technical reasons in bad weather conditions to ensure safety.

Previously, on December 27, 2024, the metro line also encountered a number of similar incidents, due to heavy rain with thunderstorms and lightning... so the electrical safety protection system of the entire metro line 1 was activated; the Urban Railway Management Board and Urban Railway Company No. 1 decided to temporarily suspend the train schedule and bring the trains back to the stations to ensure passenger safety. At the same time, the units inspected the entire metro line system.

After checking and finding no abnormalities, the relevant units decided to allow the train to operate again.

In addition to the incident caused by rain and lightning, on the evening of December 26, 2024, the metro line also had to temporarily stop at Ba Son station due to a technical error. However, the train was quickly resolved and resumed operation after about 10 minutes.

Metro Line 1 (Ben Thanh - Suoi Tien) will be put into commercial operation from December 22, 2024. In the first phase, Metro Line 1 will operate from 5:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. with 200 trains per day. Passengers traveling on Metro Line 1 and 17 connecting electric bus routes will be exempted from fares for the first month.
