Mauricio Pochettino becomes Chelsea head coach

" Chelsea are delighted to announce Mauricio Pochettino as head coach from the 2023/24 season ," Chelsea's homepage posted information about the appointment of the Argentine coach.

Pochettino will take over from interim manager Frank Lampard at Chelsea. Pochettino has signed a two-year contract with the club, with an option to extend it by one year. Pochettino's coaching staff include Jesus Perez, Miguel d'Agostino, Toni Jimenez and Sebastiano Pochettino.

Laurence Stewart and Paul Winstanley, Chelsea's joint sporting directors, said: " Pochettino's experience, work ethic, leadership qualities and character will take Chelsea forward. He has worked at the highest level and speaks multiple languages. Pochettino makes an exceptional candidate given his tactical approach and commitment to development ."

Pochettino is very interested in Chelsea's plans and is eager to get started. Before Chelsea made the official announcement, many sources said that Tottenham were also pursuing this coach. However, transfer expert Fabrizio Romano confirmed that Spurs have never negotiated or approached Pochettino.

Coach Pochettino once helped Tottenham become a force in the Premier League, reaching the final of the Champions League in the 2018/19 season. He then led PSG and brought home a national championship and a national super cup.

Chelsea believe Pochettino's attacking philosophy will suit the team.
