Responding to VTC News, VFF General Secretary Duong Nghiep Khoi said: " We have received a document requesting withdrawal from the tournament from the Binh Duong U17 team. Some Binh Duong U17 players have to retake the cultural exam because they did not achieve the score in the first semester. The team does not have enough players to participate. I have discussed with Chairman Ho Hong Thach of B.Binh Duong and received such confirmation."
According to the leader of VFF, the tournament organizer sympathizes with the difficulties that U17 Binh Duong is facing. Cultural study is also an important priority for young players. Also from this announcement, VFF discussed with Hong Linh Ha Tinh - the 3rd ranked team with the best results to participate in the tournament.
The National U17 Tournament does not have the presence of U17 Binh Duong.
Also this afternoon, VFF held a draw ceremony and announced the main advertiser for the tournament. This year, Thai Son Nam returns to accompany the National U17 tournament after many years of absence. The sponsorship contract will last for 3 seasons from 2023 to 2025.
Mr. Duong Nghiep Khoi said: " Youth tournaments like the National U17 Football Championship will always be a launching pad for talents, helping to develop and train a generation of good players for Vietnamese football to conquer new heights in the future ."
The 2023 National U17 Football Championship Finals have the participation of 12 teams including PVF, SHB Da Nang, Hoang Anh Gia Lai, Hanoi (Group A); Hue, Song Lam Nghe An, Khanh Hoa, Dong Thap (Group B) and Hong Linh Ha Tinh, Binh Phuoc, Ho Chi Minh City, Viettel (Group C).
The teams will be divided into 3 groups A, B, C (4 teams/group), playing a round-robin in each group to calculate points and rank. The three first-placed teams, three second-placed teams and the two third-placed teams with better results in the three groups will compete in the Quarterfinals, Semifinals and Finals. The tournament starts from March 10 to March 21 at the PVF Football Center.
