"Death holes" appear continuously in residential areas

On June 24, according to information from the People's Committee of Cam Pha City, Quang Ninh Province, two "death holes" have just appeared in a residential area.

Specifically, at around 7:30 a.m. on June 22, residents of Group 1, Nam Son 2 Area, Cam Son Ward heard a strange noise. They then discovered an unusual sinkhole on the road surface and reported it to the local authorities.

Through the survey, the authorities recorded a circular hole, close to the edge of the residential road, about 5m wide, more than 3.5m deep, the edge of the sinkhole was more than 10m from the nearest house.

Then, at around 1:30 p.m. on June 23, 2024, about 6 meters away from the aforementioned sinkhole, another sinkhole suddenly appeared in a karaoke room of Mr. Tran Huu Ba's family in Group 1, Nam Son 2 Area, Cam Son Ward. This karaoke room is currently not in operation and is used by the family as a warehouse for speaker equipment and karaoke machines.

Cam Pha City People's Committee directed functional forces to continue warning, moving assets and people to areas at risk of subsidence, monitoring the development of subsidence pits, posting warning signs, preventing people from passing through, mobilizing equipment to fill the sinkholes and continuing to monitor and handle the situation .
