The 7th Hanoi International Film Festival (hereinafter referred to as HANIFF VII) introduces and honors outstanding international and Vietnamese cinema works to domestic and foreign cinema lovers; is a meaningful and practical cinema event to celebrate the country's major holidays and the 70th anniversary of the Liberation of the Capital (October 10, 1954 - October 10, 2024). HANIFF VII aims to discover new talents of international and Vietnamese cinema; connect, exchange and cooperate for mutual development and cooperation between Vietnamese and international filmmakers, film distributors, and cinema artists.
Hanoi International Film Festival introduces and honors outstanding international and Vietnamese cinema works to domestic and foreign cinema lovers.
HANIFF VII includes events such as Competition Film Program; Non-competition Film Program; Discussion Program; Opening Program; Closing Program and Award Ceremony; and coordinated activities.
In particular, the Competition Film program is selected from cinemas around the world, including: competition feature film program; competition short film program; AFCNet award film program (an honorary award given by the Asian Film Commissions Network to the best competition feature film from member countries).
Non-competitive film programs include: World Cinema Panorama Program; One Country Cinema Focus Program: "German Cinema" (aiming to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the establishment of Vietnam - Germany diplomatic relations in 2025); Contemporary Vietnamese film program (including some films about Hanoi on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the Liberation of the Capital) and introducing Vietnamese films produced from 2022 to 2024.
The Seminar program includes Seminar 1 with the theme "Spotlight on German Cinema" scheduled to take place on November 8 with content including lessons learned about German cinema's film production; how to exploit human, social and humanistic themes; Analysis of creative multi-dimensional storytelling, current filmmaking trends in German cinema.
Seminar 2 with the theme "Developing the production of films exploiting historical themes and adapted from literary works" took place on November 9, including issues raised when adapting literary works into cinema; renewing the thinking of filmmakers when exploiting historical themes; solutions to elevate and develop film genres, and international experience.
The highlight is the Opening Program including the opening film screening from 15:00 - 17:00 on November 7 at the National Cinema Center, 87 Lang Ha, Ba Dinh, Hanoi; the red carpet program takes place from 17:30 - 19:30 on November 7 in the lobby in front of Ho Guom Theater, 40 Hang Bai, Hoan Kiem, Hanoi.
The Opening Ceremony (broadcast live on VTV and HTV) takes place from 20:00 to 21:30 on November 7 at Ho Guom Theater.
Outdoor film screening program at HANIFF VI
The Closing and Award Ceremony includes a red carpet program from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on November 11 at the lobby and front yard of the Hoan Kiem Theater; the Closing and Award Ceremony (broadcast live on VTV and HTV) takes place from 8:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. the same day at the Hoan Kiem Theater.
Within the framework of the HANIFF VII Film Festival, there are also coordinated activities such as the photo exhibition "Vietnam's heritages recognized by UNESCO", "Experience through cinematic footage"; Film Project Market; Film screening program for press reporters; Outdoor film screening program.../.
