With the message "Spring Blood Donation - Multiplying Happiness", the 2025 Red Spring Festival Blood Donation Program is expected to collect 8,000 units of blood.

On the afternoon of February 11, the National Institute of Hematology and Blood Transfusion and the Hanoi Youth Blood Donation Association held the opening ceremony of the 18th Spring Festival in 2025.

The Xuan Hong Festival has made an important contribution to ensuring blood supply for patient treatment during the Lunar New Year.

In his opening speech, Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Ha Thanh, Director of the National Institute of Hematology and Blood Transfusion, said that this year's Spring Festival will take place for 9 consecutive days, from February 8 to February 16, at the National Institute of Hematology and Blood Transfusion and many fixed blood donation points in districts such as Ha Dong, Gia Lam, Hanoi.

Before the official opening, the National Institute of Hematology and Blood Transfusion received nearly 3,000 units of blood, and the Festival is expected to collect at least 8,000 units of blood this year.

Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Ha Thanh also said that after 17 years of organization, the Red Spring Festival has attracted hundreds of thousands of blood donors across the country, with nearly 120,000 units of blood received in Hanoi alone.

Since 2010, the National Steering Committee for Voluntary Blood Donation has launched the Red Spring Festival as a blood donation campaign during Tet, and more and more provinces and cities have organized and chosen the Red Spring Festival as a program to kick off the new year.

Thanks to these efforts, voluntary blood donation has become a beautiful habit, especially in early spring. The festival has made an important contribution to ensuring blood supply for patient treatment during the Lunar New Year.

According to Chairman of the Hanoi Youth Blood Donation Association Trinh Xuan Thuy, in preparation for the 9 official days of the Festival, since the days leading up to Lunar New Year, hundreds of volunteers have volunteered to promote and mobilize blood donations directly at university gates, bus stations, parks and on social networking platforms.

These media campaigns have called on people to donate blood to ensure there is no blood shortage during Tet, with the goal of reaching 8,000 units of blood.

Previously, during the Lunar New Year holiday, the blood donation point at the National Institute of Hematology and Blood Transfusion remained open and welcomed 2,019 people to donate blood and platelets. In particular, many medical staff of the Institute proactively donated blood during their shifts before, during and after Tet.

In addition to the Pink Spring Festival, the series of "White Blouse - Pink Heart" festivals held at many hospitals in February also aim to celebrate the 70th anniversary of Vietnamese Doctors' Day and contribute to ensuring blood demand for emergency and treatment after Tet.
