Thai Mieu is one of the most important relics in the complex of historical and cultural relics of the Tran Dynasty in Dong Trieu land. Based on the results of archaeological excavations and historical documents, Thai Mieu was built by An Sinh Vuong Tran Lieu in the first half of the 13th century on a large scale and was a place to worship the ancestors of the Tran Dynasty. Over time, Thai Mieu is only a ruin, but many architectural traces and relics bearing the architectural and artistic imprints of the Tran Dynasty are still preserved here.

With the attention of all levels, sectors and the people's donations, Thai Mieu has been restored and embellished. At the same time, the research and development of the Thai Mieu festival scenario has also been of interest to all levels and sectors of the city, in coordination with the central scientific units, and up to now, Thai Mieu Festival has been one of the most important festivals in the city, bearing the cultural identity of the Tran Dynasty rituals.

The water procession ceremony is meant to pay tribute to the ancestors of the Tran Dynasty, a dynasty that started from the fishing profession associated with rivers.

The festival held annually by the city bears the mark and cultural identity of the Tran Dynasty with many rituals such as the King Invitation Ceremony, the Announcement Ceremony, the Peace Prayer Ceremony, the Water Procession Ceremony, the Death Anniversary of the First King Tran Thua, the Incense Offering Ceremony, the Thanksgiving Ceremony, etc. All of the above activities have created a series of unique cultural and religious activities serving the people and tourists.

Up to this point, after nearly 10 times of organization, the festival has promoted the value and significance of the relic complex in general, the Thai Mieu relic in particular, and through that, aims to educate historical traditions for local people and tourists. The unique features of Tran Dynasty culture are not mixed with other festivals; consistent with history and reality; thoroughly exploiting folk anecdotes and legends; depicting the strength of the Tran Dynasty and with that, the people are the main subjects, mobilizing the strength of the entire people.

The Tran Dynasty Temple Festival is held annually from January 18 to 20 every year. This is an important cultural event, an opportunity for people and tourists to express their respect and gratitude to their ancestors and the Tran Kings who established a brilliant dynasty in Vietnamese history. At the same time, the festival contributes to preserving and promoting the cultural and historical values of the Tran Dynasty Relic Site in Dong Trieu city, creating a highlight in the spiritual cultural tourism route of Dong Trieu in particular and Quang Ninh in general.
