The opening ceremony is scheduled to take place on September 13. On September 20, a visit and exercise will take place with the participation of high-ranking officials from Vietnam, Japan and ADMM+ member countries. The closing ceremony will be held on September 21.

The Final Field Exercise of the 4th Cycle of the Peacekeeping Experts Group is an event within the framework of ADMM+ co-chaired and organized by Vietnam and Japan. The event will have the participation of peacekeeping experts and trainees from 18 ADMM+ countries, with a total of 198 people, including 172 international delegates and 26 Vietnamese delegates.

According to the plan, the exercise is divided into 3 phases: theoretical training on peacekeeping; practical training to improve the skills of performing tasks in the area for soldiers and integrated exercise of 3 units (medical, engineering and military observers). During the exercise, the instructors will give tactical exercises for the trainees to handle.

Recently, Senior Lieutenant General Phung Si Tan, Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army, Head of the Exercise Steering Committee, inspected the preparation work for the exercise at the National Training Center 4 (My Duc district, Hanoi). After directly inspecting the field and listening to the situation report, Senior Lieutenant General Phung Si Tan requested the subcommittees, agencies, and units according to their assigned tasks to urgently review, inspect, and quickly complete the preparation stages; closely coordinate with the Japanese side to unify the exercise contents. Emphasizing that this exercise takes place over a large area, Senior Lieutenant General Phung Si Tan noted that the preparation work must be carried out specifically, in detail, thoughtfully, and seriously, ensuring absolute safety in all aspects, contributing to affirming the position of the Vietnam People's Army.

To serve the exercise, since the end of August 2023, the Vietnam Peacekeeping Department (Ministry of National Defense) and relevant agencies and units have urgently deployed the design and set up of a simulated training ground for the mission. To date, the items serving the exercise have been basically completed, including: Military observer patrol routes, temporary barracks (TOB), rebel checkpoints, refugee camps, helicopter landing pads for air ambulance transport; Reinforced level 1 field hospital; Field command house for engineers, military medics, and military observers.

The exercise will train how to handle situations that are close to the actual implementation of tasks at the peacekeeping mission in the specialized fields: Military observers, military medicine and engineering. To ensure effectiveness, the exercise will be equipped with a camera system for observation and monitoring at the exercise locations, directly connected to the Command Center. Currently, preparations are being urgently completed, including completing the opening and closing scenarios, deploying equipment and materials for the comprehensive exercise and military observers.

On the occasion of inspecting the preparation work, Senior Lieutenant General Phung Si Tan met with the Japanese Peacekeeping Expert Group and the Vietnamese Peacekeeping Expert Group who are coordinating the preparation work for the exercise.

Affirming that Vietnam will create the best conditions for the exercise, Senior Lieutenant General Phung Si Tan emphasized that this is the first time Vietnam has hosted a field exercise on UN peacekeeping, and expressed his desire to effectively coordinate with Japan to successfully organize this event. The representative of the Japanese Peacekeeping Experts Group welcomed Vietnam and Japan to co-host the exercise, affirming that they will closely coordinate with Vietnamese peacekeeping experts to make the exercise a success.
