On February 24, in Hanoi, on the occasion of the 69th anniversary of Vietnamese Doctors' Day (February 27, 1955 - February 27, 2024), Comrade Truong Thi Mai, Politburo member, Standing member of the Secretariat, Head of the Central Organization Committee visited and congratulated the Central Committee for Health Care and Protection of Cadres.
Congratulating the experts, doctors and staff of the Central Committee for Health Care of Officials on the occasion of the 69th anniversary of Vietnam Doctors' Day (February 27), comrade Truong Thi Mai praised the Central Committee for Health Care of Officials for closely coordinating with the Ministry of Health, hospitals, the Central and local Health Protection Professional Councils in the management, care, health improvement, and timely and thoughtful treatment of senior officials and former senior officials. At the same time, the Central Committee for Health Care of Officials also regularly reported to the Politburo, the Secretariat, and the Standing Secretariat on the health status of officials; proposed a number of solutions to improve the quality of health care activities for officials; monitored, directed and organized the implementation of health care and protection work according to decentralization.
Appreciating the role of the health sector over the past 69 years, especially its overall contribution to the Party's revolutionary cause, the Standing Secretariat commended the effective coordination between the Central Organizing Committee, the Ministry of Health and the Central Committee for the Protection and Care of Cadres' Health to effectively perform the assigned functions and tasks. Thanks to that, the activities of the Central Committee for the Protection and Care of Cadres' Health have become increasingly effective, effectively performing the health care work for more than 1,800 cadres under the Central management.
Recalling Uncle Ho's teaching to the health sector "honestly unite, love the sick wholeheartedly, contribute to building Vietnamese medicine", the Standing Secretariat suggested that the Ministry of Health and the Central Committee for the Protection and Care of Cadres' Health continue to research and build large hospitals and medical centers nationwide to combine traditional medicine and modern medicine to better serve the work of medical examination and treatment for the people.
Comrade Truong Thi Mai emphasized that the Party and State always pay attention to developing the health sector, especially investing in building a preventive health system, focusing on "prevention is better than cure" to contribute to improving life expectancy and taking care of people's health, especially the elderly. Therefore, the Central Organizing Committee will continue to research and propose to the Politburo preferential policies for health sector officials and employees so that they can work with peace of mind, overcome all difficulties to complete the tasks assigned by the Party and State.
According to Mr. Tran Huy Dung, Deputy Head of the Standing Committee of the Central Committee for Health Care and Protection of Officials, in recent times, the Central Committee for Health Care and Protection of Officials has regularly monitored the health status of officials, closely directed the tasks of protecting and caring for the health of officials in the system, promptly reported and advised the Standing Committee of the Secretariat on the health of senior officials and former senior officials. At the same time, the Committee also coordinated with agencies and units to complete regulations related to the functions and tasks of protecting and caring for the health of central officials and the health of officials in provinces and centrally-run cities. However, the rate of officials going for regular health check-ups in some units is not high, of which, officials managed by the Central Health Protection Departments have only 70% of officials examined twice a year and officials managed by provinces and cities have 60%.
On the side of the Ministry of Health, Minister Dao Hong Lan said that although the number of experts and medical staff is not large, the workload in the Central Committee for the Protection and Care of Officials' Health is very large with about 300 consultations/year and many other professional tasks. The Central Committee for the Protection and Care of Officials' Health has coordinated with the Ministry of Health to constantly innovate the work of periodic health examinations, and promptly issued a plan for annual periodic health examinations for senior officials.
