On August 14, DongA Ilbo newspaper released a new CCTV video of the incident of male singer Suga (BTS member) driving while drunk on August 6.
At around 11:10 p.m. on August 6, Suga was riding an electric scooter home and lost his balance, falling while turning left in front of the main gate of the Nine One Hannam apartment complex in Yongsan District, Seoul, where Suga lives.
Suga fell, got up, lifted his bike and tried to pick up his fallen helmet. At that time, 3 members of the riot police patrolling the sidewalk near Nine One approached him to help and discovered that Suga had been drinking.
When tested for blood alcohol concentration through breath, the male singer had a result of 0.227% violation - the level that requires the driver's license to be revoked.
According to the police, around 9 p.m. that day, Suga had dinner and drank with acquaintances at a restaurant near the Hannam intersection, then they continued to a nearby private studio to drink together.
At around 11pm, Suga returns home on an electric scooter stored in the studio. The studio is about 500m from Suga's house in Nine One Hannam.
DongA's CCTV footage also proves that the person in the CCTV "going to see the electric machine on the road" that jTBC previously announced was not Suga, because the routes were contradictory.
Following DongA's CCTV, Dispatch news agency pointed out Suga's two violations, which were alcohol concentration violations and driving on the sidewalk.
The singer was found drunk driving with a blood alcohol level of 0.227%, but he told police that he "only drank one glass of beer". A blood alcohol level above 0.2% will result in a prison sentence of 2-5 years or a fine of 10-20 million won.
Suga also made a mistake driving on the sidewalk, because his electric scooter is not considered a PM (a vehicle with a speed of less than 25km/h), but is classified as a motorized bicycle under the Road Traffic Act, and it cannot be used on sidewalks or bicycle paths.
"Suga's electric car is a non-PM device. Criminal penalties will be applied along with administrative measures such as revoking the driver's license," the police told Dispatch.
It is known that the summoning schedule for Suga has not been set yet.
