The talks took place within the framework of the visit and working session of Israeli Minister of Economy and Industry Nir Barkat to Vietnam from August 14-17, aiming to further deepen economic and trade cooperation on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the establishment of Vietnam-Israel diplomatic relations.
At the meeting, Minister Nguyen Hong Dien expressed his delight at the Israeli Ministry of Economy and Industry organizing a working delegation to visit and work in Vietnam. This demonstrates Israel's proactiveness and positivity in promoting economic and trade cooperation with Vietnam, contributing to deepening bilateral relations on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
Minister Nguyen Hong Dien affirmed that Vietnam always considers Israel as one of the most important partners in the Middle East. Vietnam highly appreciates the role and position of Israel, a country with high scientific and technological level, developing and applying many technologies to serve production and life.
Regarding Vietnam's trade development, the Minister of Industry and Trade said that with the agreement reached in all chapters of the Agreement, the two sides expect that two-way trade will have remarkable growth, soon reaching 3-4 billion USD and even higher in the coming time.

"The signing and implementation of the Vietnam-Israel Free Trade Agreement (VIFTA) creates favorable conditions for Vietnam to promote the export of its key products not only to Israel but also to access other markets in the Middle East, North Africa and Southern Europe.
On the other hand, besides Vietnam's market of over 100 million people, Israeli goods and technology have the opportunity to access markets in ASEAN countries, Asia-Pacific and major economies in the 16 FTAs that Vietnam has participated in," Mr. Nguyen Hong Dien emphasized.
On the Israeli side, Minister Nir Barkat expressed his delight at the positive developments in economic and trade cooperation between the two countries in recent times. In particular, the Vietnamese Ministry of Industry and Trade and the Israeli Ministry of Economy and Industry play an important role in promoting cooperation activities between the two countries.
The Israeli Minister of Economy and Industry emphasized that the Israeli government always considers Vietnam an important partner in the Asia-Pacific region. Vietnam is considered one of the most dynamic economies in the region and the world, with a GDP of nearly 410 billion USD, and an economic growth rate of 8.02% in 2022.

Regarding the VIFTA Agreement, Mr. Nir Barkat informed that the Israeli side is making efforts to coordinate with the Vietnamese side to soon complete related procedures so that the agreement can soon come into effect.
Based on the assessment that the two countries' economies have their own strengths and favorable conditions, at the meeting, Minister Nguyen Hong Dien discussed with Minister Nir Barkat a number of key issues. For example, considering and establishing a Subcommittee on trade and industrial cooperation between the two countries, co-chaired by the two Ministers; Considering negotiating and signing a cooperation agreement (MOU) in the industrial sector between the two countries.
At the same time, promote technology transfer to Vietnamese enterprises through many forms such as joint ventures and partnerships, creating conditions for Vietnamese enterprises to produce products with high technology content, bringing high added value in the field of food production and processing such as semiconductor components, dairy products...
