(NLDO) – In Ho Chi Minh City, gold shops do not lack gold rings, but SJC Company alone sells SJC gold bars at a maximum of 4 taels per person.
At around 6:30 a.m. on God of Wealth Day (February 7), the price of SJC gold bars was announced by businesses at 90 million VND/tael.
The selling price of gold rings was 89.5 million VND/tael. However, at 9:30 a.m., as the world gold price soared to 2,868 USD/ounce, people were excited to buy gold for the God of Wealth's luck, so the price of SJC gold increased to 90.3 million VND/tael. The price of gold rings also jumped to 89.7 million VND/tael.
At an SJC Company store on Quang Trung Street, Go Vap District, dozens of customers always line up to buy gold.
The store staff announced that each person can buy a maximum of 4 taels of SJC gold bars, 20 taels of gold rings, and no more than 20 pieces of gold with the image of the God of Wealth (each piece weighs 1 tael).
SJC store is crowded with customers, while some other gold shops are deserted.
However, most customers at this store only buy gold rings and gold bars with the God of Wealth from 5 phan to 1 chi. SJC gold bars have almost no customers.
Meanwhile, along Quang Trung Street (Go Vap District), Cau Market area (District 12), some gold shops and stores of DOJI and PNJ companies have few customers.
Kim Phat Duy gold shop (District 12) in particular is quite crowded. Here, a customer bought a 5-tael gold ring to worship the God of Wealth. Others bought gold bars shaped like a snake, ranging from 3 to 1 tael.
As usual every year, Mi Hong gold shops (Ba Chieu market), Kim Phat I and Kim Thanh (Go Vap market) are always packed with customers buying fashion gold rings, necklaces, etc. from 5 million to 10 million VND.
Employees of these shops said that gold rings, gold bars with the symbol of Phuc – Loc – Tho, and gold bars with the image of a Snake are selling very well. The gold shops will be open until 10pm on February 7 before closing.
Gold shops at Thiec Market on Pho Co Dieu Street (District 11) were also deserted on God of Wealth Day. A representative of Kim Vinh Gold Shop said that although they opened early in the morning, there were only a few customers coming to buy jewelry, while in previous years it was crowded.
"We may have to wait until the end of today to know how gold trading will be on the 10th. Currently, customers who want to buy gold rings are not limited in quantity," said this representative.
Many gold shops in Thiec market have few customers on God of Wealth day.
On Nguyen Duy Duong street, near An Dong market, gold shops are also quiet, employees just stand and wait for customers.
Ms. Ngo Thi Kim Xuyen, representative of Kim Xuyen Vinh gold shop, said that since she started her business, this is the first time she has witnessed such a lack of customers that both the staff and the shop owner have fallen asleep due to lack of customers.
"Every year, there are layers of cars. I work hard to sell gold to customers. Now no one comes to buy, the parking attendants are still free, there is no need to add more people to watch the cars. This year, the gold buying and selling situation has decreased dramatically, out of 10 parts, now there is only 1 part left" - Ms. Xuyen shared.
Gold shops on Nguyen Duy Duong street are deserted.
On the morning of February 7 (the 10th day of Tet), at some gold shops far from the center of Da Nang City, customers crowded to buy gold for luck on the day of the God of Wealth.
In Da Nang City, many gold shops are crowded but some are deserted on God of Wealth's day.
At Kim Khanh Viet Hung gold shop (Au Co street, Lien Chieu district), customers have been waiting since 5:00 a.m. At 5:30 a.m., the gold shop opened.
Customers here mainly buy round rings from 5cm to 1chi. Ms. Pham Thi Quyen, manager of Kim Khanh Viet Hung store, said that this year, the store welcomed much more customers than last year.
"There are many customers and the store has prepared an abundant source of goods with diverse designs" - Ms. Quyen said.
According to Ms. Quyen, customers who buy large quantities of gold are few, but those who buy from 3 to 1 tael are many.
Meanwhile, at DOJI store - Hung Vuong street, Hai Chau district, there were few customers.
Ms. Pham Thi Thu Thuy, a saleswoman here, said that due to fluctuations in the gold market, high gold prices and the difficult economic situation, fewer customers bought gold on God of Wealth Day this year than in previous years.
DOJI Da Nang store sells SJC gold bars and rings for 9 million VND/tael. The purchase price at this store is 8.65 million VND/tael.
