(NLDO) - From January 1, 2025, vehicle inspection facilities will no longer issue temporary 15-day vehicle inspection certificates for cars as they do now.
According to Circular 47/2024/TT-BGTVT of the Ministry of Transport on motor vehicle inspection and emission inspection of motorbikes and scooters, from January 1, 2025, inspection facilities will not issue temporary 15-day inspection certificates for cars as they do now.
According to the Vietnam Register, in the Law on Road Traffic Order and Safety, there is no provision allowing cars to be temporarily inspected for 15 days, instead there is a provision for cars with a temporary vehicle registration certificate.
To ensure proper implementation of the provisions of the Law on Road Traffic Order and Safety, regarding the regulations on motor vehicle inspection, the drafting committee of Circular 47 decided to abolish the 15-day temporary inspection and supplement the inspection regulations for motor vehicles with temporary vehicle registration certificates for domestically manufactured and assembled vehicles or imported vehicles that need to participate in traffic (can be driven from the factory, port or border gate to the dealer).
Accordingly, the vehicle inspection period will correspond to the period on the temporary vehicle registration certificate issued by the police to the vehicle owner or business.
These subjects include: Domestically manufactured and assembled vehicles, vehicles subject to research and development that need to participate in road traffic; imported motor vehicles that are tested before emission testing; imported vehicles (not falling into the two cases above).
In case an imported car is driven before the emission test, it is usually granted a temporary vehicle registration within 1 month, the vehicle inspection certificate is also only valid for 1 month.
In case the car is subject to a trial run, if it is granted a temporary vehicle registration for 6 months, the inspection certificate issued by the inspection facility to the business will also be valid for only 6 months.
In addition, Circular 47/2024 also clearly stipulates the inspection cycle of each type of motor vehicle in a more comprehensive and focused manner.
Specifically, passenger cars of all types with up to 8 seats (excluding the driver's seat) not used for transportation business: The first inspection cycle lasts 36 months. After this cycle, cars with a production period of up to 7 years have a 24-month inspection cycle; cars with a production period of over 7 - 20 years, the inspection cycle is 12 months. Cars with a production period of over 20 years have a 6-month inspection cycle...
Also from January 1, 2025, there will be no separate inspection stamps issued for commercial transport vehicles, only distinguishing inspection stamps for "green" vehicles, other motor vehicles and specialized motorbikes.
Accordingly, if the car passes the inspection stages, the inspection facility will issue an inspection certificate and an inspection stamp with an inspection cycle appropriate to the vehicle type and production time.
