(NADS) - Cultural industry is one of the focuses and development trends of many countries in the world, including Vietnam. In recent years, Vietnam has recorded the flourishing development of diverse cultural fields, creating many quality creative products, attracting public attention.

Get great results

Currently, in the world, the development of cultural industry is taking place strongly, is a trend and driving force for the socio-economic development of countries. For Vietnam, cultural industry is a new group of industries, creating value to contribute to the economy, contributing to promoting the image and identity of Vietnam, thereby enhancing the competitiveness of the economy. According to the aggregated data, the production value of Vietnam's cultural industries in the period of 2018-2022 contributed an average of 1,059 million billion VND. In addition, the importance of cultural industry is also reflected in the goal of Resolution No. 33-NQ/TW dated June 9, 2014: "Building a healthy cultural market, promoting the development of cultural industry, enhancing the promotion of Vietnamese culture".

With the most active field being cinema, in early 2024 alone, many works were released to the audience and achieved huge revenue such as Mai , Lat mat 7: Tac ve dinh menh , Gap lai chi bau ... In which, the film Mai by director Tran Thanh excellently became the highest-grossing film in Vietnam with about 556 billion VND. According to statistics on Box Office Vietnam, Vietnamese films had impressive revenue achievements in early 2024 of over 600 billion VND.

It can be said that the film market is growing more than ever, with sales boosts from films by Tran Thanh and Ly Hai. Recent works are also more diverse in genre, focusing on exploiting cultural and historical aspects, as well as being developed from original scripts by domestic screenwriters, instead of borrowing from foreign countries. Especially in the context of the theater system being invested in expansion and upgrading, the rate of audiences going to the cinema, especially young audiences, accounts for 80 - 90%, we can completely trust in the open potential of domestic cinema.

In the entertainment field, national cultural materials are also cleverly integrated into products, creating a unique impression on the audience. Recently, the program Anh trai vu ngan cong gai produced by Yeah1 and broadcast on VTV3, caused a fever among young people with performances imbued with identity. In particular, the song Trong com was renewed to be more youthful but still retained traditional elements, creating a vibrant cover trend not only on social networks but also becoming a "model song" for many performances on stages and schools. The greatest success of the program is probably to arouse national pride among young people, thereby encouraging them to learn and appreciate traditional cultural materials.

In addition, Vietnam also has the potential to develop further in the music market, with sufficient facilities to organize international music programs. The proof is that in 2023, our country witnessed the arrival of a series of world-famous artists and bands such as Blackpink, Westlife, singer Maroon 5, Charlie Puth... attracting thousands of audiences to attend the shows. According to the report of the Hanoi Department of Tourism, the total revenue of Blackpink in just two shows is estimated at 630 billion VND. Images of traditional dishes and costumes are also spread by artists, creating a positive effect, contributing to promoting tourism, promoting Vietnamese culture and people, paving the way for many other international artists to perform in our country.

For further sustainable development

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, at the National Conference on the Development of Vietnam's Cultural Industries in December 2023, asked delegates to carefully evaluate and analyze the results achieved, thereby identifying opportunities and challenges for Vietnam's cultural industry in the coming time. At the same time, learn from countries that have successfully developed the cultural industry.

From the Prime Minister's direction, we can take South Korea as a typical example of a successful country in developing the cultural industry. The tremendous spread of the Korean cultural wave (Hallyu) is not simply a temporary trend, but a long-term strategy, with serious and systematic investment by the Korean government, creating a profound influence not only in culture but also in the national economy.

Vietnam is a country with enormous cultural and historical potential. Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh stated: “Vietnamese culture is the result of thousands of years of civilization, creative labor, and resilient struggle to build and defend the country by the Vietnamese ethnic community, and is the result of the exchange and absorption of the quintessence of many cultures in the world to constantly improve and develop”. However, most of our country's cultural products are still considered insufficient to meet the increasingly high tastes and consumption needs of the people.

Associate Professor Dr. Bui Hoai Son, Standing Member of the National Assembly's Committee on Culture and Education, said that although the cultural industries have received attention from the State, they have not been effectively exploited to match their inherent advantages. "We do not lack creative talent, nor do we lack cultural capital, but we have not yet created a suitable environment to support creativity to help promote national culture, as well as help the country's creative talents shine," Associate Professor Dr. Bui Hoai Son shared.

Therefore, in order for the Vietnamese cultural industry to develop sustainably, it is necessary to have support and solidarity from the State, relevant ministries, branches and localities, to create favorable conditions for orientation, propaganda and strengthening the awareness of the whole society about the importance of "soft power" in the comprehensive development of the country. In addition, the State also needs to introduce specific and synchronous policies to support the development of the cultural industry, creating a legal corridor and a favorable environment for businesses and talented people to produce quality cultural products to serve the audience.

Only then will the Vietnamese cultural industry have a "place to show its strength", contributing to strengthening the country's socio-economy, spreading good cultural values internationally, worthy of its existing stature.
