On February 21, Belarusian Defense Minister Viktor Khrenin announced that the deployment of Russian tactical nuclear weapons in Belarus and in the future the Oreshnik missile complex will not allow anyone to dictate to Minsk by force.
Speaking at the celebration of Defender of the Fatherland and Armed Forces Day, the Belarusian Defense Minister said: "The highest level of interaction between fraternal countries was confirmed by the deployment of tactical nuclear weapons on the territory of our country, as well as the decision to deploy the weapon of the future - the Oreshnik missile system - in Belarus.
All this increases the combat potential of our Armed Forces many times over and makes any talk of our country by force completely useless."

Minister Khrenin noted that the Belarusian armed forces are "constantly being equipped with new and modern weapons", assessing that "close military-technical cooperation with the Russian Federation plays an important role in this process".
He stressed that Belarus is “ready to ensure military security by all forces and means”.
Also in his speech, the Belarusian Defense Minister accused the militarization of NATO countries of increasing tensions in Europe, typically the active strengthening of the combat potential of the armed forces of Poland and the Baltic countries.
“The growing tensions in the region are being fueled by the increased militarization of NATO member states. Along with the constant calls for the rapid deployment of NATO military forces on their territories, Poland and the Baltic states are actively strengthening the combat potential of their armed forces,” the Belarusian Defense Minister said.
Minister Viktor Khrenin also noted the level of military presence of units of the armed forces of Poland and the Baltic countries in the border areas with Belarus.
According to him, the West, first of all the United States, is trying to push Poland and the Baltic countries to take more decisive action.
“For this purpose, conditions are being created to use these countries in a proxy war against the Federal State of Belarus and Russia,” he said.
