iPhone 15 Pro Max has surpassed Huawei Mate 60 Pro in China

The iPhone 15 Pro Max has seen strong sales despite the appeal of the Huawei Mate 60 Pro to Chinese consumers, powered by its homegrown 5G-enabled 7nm Kirin 9000S chip, which saw year-on-year growth of 90% in October.

In addition to the top spot, the iPhone 15 series also added two other members to the top 5 best-selling smartphones in China in October. Including the iPhone 15 Pro in third place with 4% market share, while the iPhone 15 was in fifth place with 3% market share.

As for the Mate 60 Pro, it came in second with a 4% market share. Another Chinese smartphone in fourth place was the X50 from Honor, formerly a Huawei sub-brand, with a 3% market share.

Huawei was once a notable name in the smartphone market when it aimed to become the world's No. 1 manufacturer before the US government imposed sanctions on the company in 2019. After that, the US banned all foundries using its technology from shipping advanced chips to Huawei, causing the company's smartphone sales to drop to 35 million units in 2021. Currently, Huawei's sales target in 2023 is estimated at around 100 million units.
