Towards the Fatherland's border

Located in the Northwest of the country, Lao Cai has a border of about 182 km. The border area is home to many ethnic minorities whose lives are still difficult. With their hearts and enthusiasm always directed towards the border area, Lao Cai youth have recently had many meaningful activities at the border of the country.

In the dense fog of Y Ty (Bat Xat) in March, the March border program with the theme "My Fatherland's Border" organized by the Provincial Youth Union, the Vietnam Youth Union in coordination with units and sponsors brought many meaningful activities, such as giving gifts to prestigious people, giving 15 tons of cement and 20 million VND to the People's Committee of Y Ty commune to build and harden rural roads; giving 2 tons of rice, 30 gifts to people of Y Ty commune; giving 100 sets of uniforms, 10 scholarships to students in difficult circumstances in the area; giving 50 boxes of candy to children in Sim San village; giving 1 TV to Y Ty Border Guard Station and 8 gifts to adopted children of Y Ty Border Guard Station.

The program also included many projects and tasks such as free haircuts for students and residents, and helping households in Sim San village pour concrete on inter-family roads. The total value of the program was about 300 million VND.

As a relative of a soldier working at A Mu Sung Border Post, upon receiving the attention, encouragement, and gifts from the Provincial Youth Union, the Vietnam Youth Union of the province, and other agencies and units, Mr. Ly Gio Luy could not hide his emotions: My family thanks the gifts from the Youth Union at all levels and the agencies and units. The family will encourage him to work with peace of mind!

In recent times, Muong Khuong district youth have also had many meaningful activities in border communes, such as coordinating the organization of the program "Spring volunteer - green heart journey" in 2024 in Ta Gia Khau commune. The program donated 20 boxes of candy, 70 gifts, 2 water purifiers, artificial grass at 2 Thai Giang San kindergartens and primary schools. The program also supported 30 solar bulbs worth 30 million VND to build the project "Lighting up the countryside road" in Na Mang village, Ta Gia Khau commune, contributing to building a bright - green - clean - beautiful - civilized - safe road.

Responding to the Campaign “Sentimentality towards the border and islands” launched by the Central Youth Union, the Provincial Youth Union regularly organizes propaganda activities to raise awareness among members and youth through major political activities throughout the union. Programs and activities towards the border are also regularly deployed by the Youth Union at all levels.

One of the major activities is the "March Border Month" Program held every March, or "Spring Border" held on the occasion of Lunar New Year. In addition, there are activities such as exchanges, friendship, visits, and gift giving between the Youth Union and Association at all levels with families of policy beneficiaries, village elders, village chiefs, meritorious people, border guards, social security activities, and volunteering for the community towards border areas; helping youth and people in border areas develop the economy, ensuring political security and national defense tasks. Thereby promoting the spirit, youthfulness, and intelligence of enthusiastic, proactive, and volunteer youth, contributing to the successful implementation of the socio-economic development goals in the locality and building and protecting the Fatherland, while raising awareness and fostering the ideal of territorial sovereignty and national borders for union members, association members, and youth.

Mr. Nguyen Hai Dang, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Youth Union, Chairman of the Vietnam Youth Union of the province, said: Towards the border areas, the provincial Youth Union chapters have stepped up propaganda and encouraged members and youth to actively participate in volunteer activities in border areas, demonstrating the responsibility of youth in building and protecting the national border. Widely propagate among members and youth about the awareness of building a peaceful, stable, friendly, cooperative, and sustainable border and the tradition of "repaying gratitude" and "remembering the source of water when drinking" of the nation.

Through activities to help young people be proud of the history and glorious revolutionary traditions of the Party, the nation, the Youth Union, and the Association, and to raise awareness and foster ideals for members and young people. Promote the implementation of the movement "I love my Fatherland" specifically through projects and tasks such as free medical examination and medicine; giving gifts to policy families, poor households, and poor but studious students; building Houses of Gratitude and Houses of Love; supporting production development and improving the lives of people in border areas. Coordinate with units to build and strengthen the people's security system, protect territorial sovereignty, coordinate in organizing patrol, control, and border protection activities; coordinate in organizing drills to prevent and combat drugs and crimes; propagate and mobilize people to comply with border laws.
