The film Heart Rescue Station gathers a "huge" cast in the "VFC universe" such as: People's Artist Thu Ha, Meritorious Artist Pham Cuong, Hong Diem, Luong Thu Trang, Quang Su... However, up to now, the character most loved by the audience is not in the main line of the film but is the "uneducated but rich" gold shop owner named Men.
Playing the role of Mrs. Men is the female artist Huong “Tuoi” – who is very familiar with the series Meet at the weekend. Sharing with VTC News , Huong “Tuoi” said she was really surprised that her role was so loved by the audience.
The scene where Huong "Tuoi" plays the role of Mrs. Men makes the audience excited.
"I am proud that I am still loved by the audience until now."
- It has been a long time since Huong “Tuoi” has returned to a TV series. What made you accept the role of Mrs. Men “less educated, more rich” in the movie “Heart Rescue Station”?
I only do VFC films less often, but I still appear on stage regularly. As for the role of Mrs. Men, to be honest, at first I didn't like this role very much, because it was quite similar to the images of previous characters I had portrayed.
I have played the roles of fierce, mean women all my youth. So if director Vu Truong Khoa had not invited me, I would not have accepted the role of Mrs. Men in the movie Heart Rescue Station.
- Returning to the small screen after a long absence but accepting a supporting role, accepting a look much older than yourself, do you feel disadvantaged?
I am not a picky person when it comes to main and supporting roles. Once I accept a role, I will do my best to make it "real" as everyone has seen in Mrs. Men.
Regarding character creation, about 20 years ago I would pay attention to whether I looked pretty on screen or not. But now I no longer care whether my role is pretty or ugly, fake or young.
Honestly, whether I am prettier or if I make my face look uglier, the audience will still recognize me as Huong “Tuoi”. I used to have many roles that were uglier and much older than Mrs. Men.
For me right now, what matters is whether the film is well received by the audience, how people react to my character.

For me right now, what matters is whether the film is well received by the audience, how people react to my character.
- Normally, the audience will remember the character’s name more than the name of the actor who plays that role. But in your case, when Mrs. Men was just on air, many people called her “Tuoi” Huong. What do you think about this?
Of course I feel happy. In fact, in real life, wherever I go and whatever I do, there are always people who recognize me as Huong “Tuoi” from Meet at the Weekend.
I am proud that up to now, although I no longer appear regularly on television, I am still remembered and loved by the audience.
The role of Mrs. Men by Huong "Tuoi".
- Mrs. Men is a supporting character, with few scenes but won the most sympathy from the audience in the movie "Heart Rescue Station". Are you satisfied with this reaction of the audience?
As I said, I really didn’t expect much when I accepted the role of Mrs. Men. However, my principle is that once I accept a role, I have to think hard and develop that character to the fullest. But I have to say that this is just a very small role, compared to my previous roles, Mrs. Men doesn’t have any breakthroughs in acting or image, I also play the role very lightly.
So when I read the audience's comments like: "Awesome", "the best"... I was really surprised.
As an artist, of course, receiving compliments from the audience makes everyone happy. I am even happier because the audience's reaction is beyond my expectations.
During filming, I thought my role might get the attention of the audience, but perhaps people would just react like: “Oh, there she is again”, that’s all. But I didn’t expect that when the film aired, people would love “her” so much. I even encountered many lovely comments such as: “Suggest the director transfer the main storyline to Mrs. Men”, “Give more time to Men and Dinh’s mother and son”.
I think even in the prime of my career, I haven't had such an interesting reaction from the audience.
"The reaction from the audience was beyond my expectations."
- In your opinion, why are audiences so "crazy" about the character of Mrs. Men when the film features many stars of your time such as People's Artist Thu Ha, Meritorious Artist Pham Cuong and also young stars who are "popular" such as Hong Diem and Quang Su?
I think the audience likes the role of Mrs. Men so much not because I acted so well, but maybe because it's been a long time since they've "met" me, plus the character Men's dialogue is quite humorous and light compared to the general atmosphere of the film, so the character makes a good impression.
Honestly, when I first watched the scenes where I played Mrs. Men, I felt it was just normal. But because the audience commented so much and loved “her” so much, I kept watching it over and over again and found my character… okay.
Still have many regrets with the role of the gold shop owner
- Even though you are the most loved character in the movie, it seems like you are still not really satisfied with your performance as Mrs. Men?
I received the script quite late, just one day before filming started. At that time, the script was not yet complete, I had not read the scripts of the other characters so I did not know if Mrs. Men was a good or bad person, I did not know how the characters would interact with me.
So I just acted according to my own feelings, and when the film aired, knowing the conflicts between the characters and the character lines, especially knowing that the audience was very interested in the role of Mrs. Men, I felt even more regretful.
If I had more time to study the entire film's script, I would have played Mrs. Men with more depth, more "life" and more emotion.
Currently, the film is only 1/3 done, the script is not really complete, maybe there will be a chance for Mrs. Men to appear in a more interesting way.
Huong "Tuoi" feels sorry because the role of Mrs. Men does not really have the depth she wanted.
- Playing the role of a gold shop owner, you must have had a hard time preparing the outfit and accessories to look "appropriate"?
I usually invest in my own costumes and accessories for my roles. Knowing that this is a character of a gold shop owner with a bad temper, I prepared a few “fake” gold rings.
But then I felt it was not right because the "fake" rings cost up to several hundred thousand VND each, and after filming they could not be used for anything, so it was a waste, so I decided to use my real jewelry.
The scene where I talked to My Dinh (Thuy Diem) after her divorce was filmed at a gold shop. At that time, I forgot all my jewelry at home so I had to borrow it from the counter. The staff was very cooperative, willing to lend me diamond-studded items and in that scene I wore real gold, which was very valuable.
But because of that, I felt a little pressured, because I was afraid that I would lose or misplace their things. Before filming, I carefully asked the staff to take pictures of the things I borrowed as “props” so that I could return them intact.
The "props" in the scene where Mrs. Men "confronts" her ex-son-in-law and daughter are all real gold.
- Huong "Tuoi" is considered the "whole childhood sky" of the 8X, 9X generation. Do you plan to let your children follow in your footsteps?
I have 2 children, the eldest daughter is in her second year of university, majoring in Communications, and the youngest son is currently in 11th grade but has no artistic talent.
- Do you regret that none of your children follow an acting career?
I don't feel sorry for anything, because art is a special profession with a very fierce elimination. In our time, the number of people who stayed in the profession for an entire course could be counted on the fingers of one hand.
I always feel lucky because my children are good and good at studying. No matter what career they choose, I am proud of them and ready to support them as much as possible.
Thank you!
