On November 14, in Hanoi, the Department of Information Security - AIS under the Ministry of Information and Communications of Vietnam and the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency - CISA, Department of Homeland Security, United States signed a memorandum of understanding on cooperation in the field of network information security.

With the attendance of Deputy Minister of Information and Communications Phan Tam and Mr. Marc Knapper - Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United States of America to Vietnam, the signing ceremony of the memorandum of understanding is a memorable milestone in bilateral cooperation on cyber security, and also reflects the strong development in the comprehensive partnership between Vietnam and the United States.

CISA is the federal cybersecurity agency that coordinates the nation's critical infrastructure security and resilience.

The agency is also responsible for leading national activities to raise awareness, manage, and mitigate risks to U.S. physical and cyber infrastructure.

The Vietnam Cybersecurity Authority and the US Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency have both pledged to work closely to realize the goals set out in the newly signed memorandum of understanding on cooperation in the field of information security.

The two sides also expressed their hope that the cooperative relationship between the two units will be increasingly sustainable and develop strongly, commensurate with the comprehensive partnership between Vietnam and the United States.

Speaking at the event, Mr. Tran Quang Hung, Acting Director of the Department of Information Security, emphasized the importance of the partnership with CISA in enhancing Vietnam's cyber security capacity.

According to Mr. Tran Quang Hung, in the face of increasingly sophisticated cyber threats, the memorandum of understanding with CISA marks an important step forward in Vietnam's efforts to protect critical digital infrastructure and ensure a safe cyberspace.

“Cooperating with an experienced organization like CISA not only helps Vietnam strengthen its ability to protect national interests but also contributes to a safer, more prosperous future globally,” commented the acting Director of the Department of Information Security.

Attending the signing ceremony via videoconference, Mr. Trent Frazier, Deputy Director for International Partnerships at CISA, said that cooperation and collaboration are 'key' to successfully protecting critical infrastructure and further enhancing cyber security capabilities.

“This Memorandum of Understanding will strengthen the existing partnership between the United States and Vietnam, enabling the United States to effectively promote innovation, secure digital infrastructure, and protect against evolving cyber threats,” said Mr. Trent Frazier.

Vietnam participates in international exercise on responding to cyber attacks using AI. The international exercise ACID 2024 with the theme 'Proactively responding to the increase in cyber attacks using AI', has the participation of technical staff from 10 ASEAN countries and 5 dialogue countries.
