On December 15, the Traditional Liaison Committee of the General Department of Politics in Ho Chi Minh City held a meeting with generals, former cadres, officers, soldiers, and defense workers on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam People's Army.
The meeting was attended by many generals and nearly 200 former cadres, officers, soldiers, and defense workers who used to work at the General Department of Politics, currently living and retired in Ho Chi Minh City and the southern provinces and cities.
Speaking at the meeting, Lieutenant General Nguyen Van Thai - Head of the General Department of Politics's Traditional Liaison Committee in Ho Chi Minh City emphasized that the meeting was an opportunity for generals, former cadres and military officers to review traditions, arouse national spirit and pride on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam People's Army; 80th anniversary of the General Department of Politics' traditional day (December 22, 1944 - December 22, 2024) and 35th anniversary of National Defense Day (December 22, 1989 - December 22, 2024).
A meaningful activity to express deep gratitude to previous generations who have wholeheartedly contributed to building the tradition of the Vietnam People's Army, contributing to building and firmly protecting the increasingly prosperous and beautiful Vietnam.
Established in 1998, the General Political Department's Traditional Liaison Committee in Ho Chi Minh City has over 10 focal organizations, with the participation of over 500 general-level officers, including many generals and senior officers who have held important positions in the General Political Department and units throughout the army.
At the meeting, Lieutenant General Nguyen Van Thai, on behalf of the Liaison Committee, sent congratulations and encouragement from Senior Lieutenant General Trinh Van Quyet - Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Standing Member of the Central Military Commission, Director of the General Department of Politics to all generals and members of the Southern Liaison Committee.
After 26 years of establishment and tradition preservation, the Liaison Committee has become a common home for members, who are generals, former cadres, officers, soldiers, and defense workers. This is also a place for members to share, help, encourage, visit, and support each other in life and a school to educate children about the fine traditions of Uncle Ho's Army.
On this occasion, the Traditional Liaison Committee of the General Department of Politics in Ho Chi Minh City presented flowers and longevity gifts to senior members, from 80 to over 90 years old, who are active in the Southern Liaison Committee.
Previously, on December 14 in Ho Chi Minh City, the Veterans' Traditional Liaison Committee of Regiment 31, Division 309 also held a traditional meeting to celebrate the 79th anniversary of the unit's Traditional Day (January 22, 1946 - January 22, 2025) and the 80th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam People's Army.
