Specifically, according to data reported by enterprises, in the first 5 months of 2024, the total number of Vietnamese workers working abroad was 65,852 people (including more than 19,000 female workers), reaching 52.68% of the 2024 plan. The goal set this year is to send about 125,000 Vietnamese workers to work abroad under contracts. The markets that received many Vietnamese workers in the past 5 months include Japan: 35,208 people; Taiwan (China): 21,602 people; South Korea: 5,209 people.
In the first 5 months of 2024, the total number of Vietnamese workers working abroad was 65,852 people.
Since the beginning of the year, many programs to promote sending workers to work abroad under contracts have been implemented. In March 2024, in Hanoi, Deputy Minister of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs Nguyen Ba Hoan and Australian Ambassador to Vietnam Andrew Goledzinowski signed a Plan to implement the Memorandum of Understanding between the Australian Government and the Vietnamese Government on supporting Vietnamese citizens to work in the agricultural sector in Australia. Accordingly, the two sides agreed to implement a plan to support 1,000 Vietnamese workers to work in the agricultural sector in Australia under the PALM Program, expected to start in 2024. In the first year of implementing the program, labor recruitment will be carried out through a public service unit and up to six Vietnamese enterprises. The implementation of this Memorandum of Understanding is an important milestone for the Vietnamese Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs in Vietnam-Australia labor cooperation. Also in June, in Hanoi, the Overseas Labor Center (Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs) signed an agreement with the Osaka Health Care Association (Japan) on providing nursing trainees for internships in Japan. Workers participating in the program will have their expenses covered by the Osaka Health Care Association. These include: all costs of studying Japanese in Vietnam (from 8-11 months to reach N4 Japanese level), Japanese language certification exam fees (once), visa application fees, health check-up costs (twice), airfare (departure and return home upon completion of the contract). Workers who come to Japan for internships will be arranged to intern at the Association's health care facilities or hospitals that are partners of the Osaka Health Care Association. Workers are trained in a professional, friendly working environment with full modern equipment, receive a salary equivalent to the basic salary of Japanese people working in the same position with a monthly salary of about 36 million VND excluding allowances, overtime pay and enjoy social benefits, participate in insurance types according to Japanese law.
